    Fruit in secondary

I used 3 pounds of raspberries for 5 gallons, I think next time I will step it down to two pounds, the fruit flavor was a little too much. They were frozen, and when they defrosted they turned into somewhat of a mushy mixture The raspberries became all white as the beer became more red, and...

    Fruit in secondary

I made a raspberry wheat by just tossing the defrosted raspberries into the secondary for a week and a half. No problem with overcarbing or infection

Adding fruit using hop bag vs Secondary?

I recently bottled my raspberry wheat, 5 gallon batch. I did about 3 pounds for 5 gallons, so .5 for 1 gallon sounds about right. As for sanitizing, I soaked the raspberrys in vodka for about 20 minutes, stirring them around. I'm not sure what star san would do, but I'm not crazy about...

    Dry hopping ??

No need to boil them, that would actually be bad as it would release some of the aroma. Infection from hops is generally unheard of, just toss them in!

    Gem of a find

My friends and I got this once because of the price. It was frightening how bad this tasted. We ended up drinking beast over this, and it sat around for a month until someone threw it away

Brewing with Fruit for the first time

I just started this kit as well, and I bought a few pounds of frozen raspberries to use instead of the extract. My question is between a purée and whole berries. Which one is better to do/is there a difference?

    Removing labels

I soak mine in the tub in really hot water with oxyclean. Give them an hour or two, and most of the labels come right off. I've noticed that harpoon labels tend to be a little stickier, and need some scrubbing, but almost everything else is pretty easy.
