Hello just received my first kit and I've read the instructions about heating the 2.5 gallons of water up an adding the syrup and specialty grains and then top off with cold water to reach 5 gallons . But can I just heat up 5.5 gallons then add the ingredients and continue ?

Right now just some jack D single barrel , but I got two bombers each of a barley wine and a old English ale aged in makers mark barrels !!! Gonna save those for a bit
Thanks lots , so maybe wrap it in a dark bag or cloth to block the light , then keep it in the bottom of a cold closet since its winter ? Then put into fridge in summer to keep it cool still wrapped up ?
Hello , new here and I just got two bottles of barley wine from a local craft brewery , I've herd on here some beers get better with age ? I'm gonna drink one bottle this year and I'm thinking of saving the other one for next year ? Where and how should I keep them ( if I can with this style ? )
Don't know , but it was in a "upscale " part of Alabama , I guess I didn't want to seem like a boozer to the kid even tho he was prolly the same age as me . Lol this hobby is addicting !!
