Need Suggestions for Green Bay and Madison

Check out Karben4 in Madison. They took over the building that Ale Asylum moved out of and they're amazing. My favorite is thir Block Party Amber Ale, and another big hit of theirs is their Fantasy Factory IPA.

no carbonation solved, force carb with CO2 not beer gas

Good call. However if you are wanting to SERVE on beer gas, then it is advisable to also force carb with beer gas. Trying to force carb on CO2 and then switching to serve on beer gas usually results in overcarbonated beer and horrible nitro pours. I know some can and do pull it off, but it can...

How to add permanent volume markings to a kettle (illustrated)

I have to say, this is awesome...thank you OP! (It's not as bad the photo looks, it's very awesome in person!)

Emergency: Is gas dip tube needed to store beer in corny?

No o-rings or anything... They just hold pressure somehow... The poppets can't fall out because of the threaded post they're sitting on top of.

Emergency: Is gas dip tube needed to store beer in corny?

Half of my kegs have no gas tube and I've never had a leak

    Help with New Stout Faucet

I only have 1 tap on nitro. I imagine it will take a long time to go through the tank.

    Help with New Stout Faucet

This. So much easier and fool proof than hooking up to pure CO2 first. I would advise against hooking up to straight CO2 at all. Just set and forget for 2 weeks on the nitro and it should be perfect.

    Nitro balancing

I know it's been awhile but I promised to post my results. I took a new keg of un-carbed milk stout that I brewed and hooked it up directly to the nitro setup, without caring with co2 in advance. I left it for two weeks and have poured many pints since. This method has worked pretty well...

What is the "Assumed" Pre-Boil Volume?

I've searched around and couldn't quite find the answer to my question... My system boils off about 2 Gallons per hour. When I find a recipie that gives a Pre-Boil Volume of 6.5 gallons, I adjust the grains to match my system and Pre-Boil Volume of 7.5 gal so I end up with 5.5 gal in the...

    Best digital thermometer

I currently have the Weber one you mention above, which is the reason I'm currently reading this thread: because it's junk and I need a new reliable one. I just found out mine is 5-10 degrees off, depending on how the thermometer is feeling at any particular moment. I've had mine for under a...

Help with recipe - strawberry cream ale for SWMBO

Look for the Hella Vanilla Cream Ale recipe here on the form. You'll see reading through it that someone made it into a strawberries and cream ale which sounds absolutely delicious. I've made the regular Hella Vanilla and I can't wait to brew the strawberry version.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Big Brother Peanut Butter Brown

Search the fourm for chocolate covered Beavr Nutz, quite a similar and popular recipe. No need to use anything to reconstitute the pb2, just dump it in. I've made the Beavr Nutz and a PB&J ale with great results this way.

    Nitro balancing

I obviously don't know for sure bc I haven't figured it out myself yet but I think it will take at least 2 weeks hooked up to beer gas before it pours properly (if you never hook it up to pure co2).

    Finished my Zombie Dust Clone

Oh, yeah I guess I was a little slow on that one, lol

    Finished my Zombie Dust Clone

Ha, thanks...I need to be 100% confident in my brews before I go trading something that's supposed to taste like one of the best beers ever made though!

    Finished my Zombie Dust Clone

Finished my Zombie Dust Clone and cloned everything including the bottle. I thought it was kinda cool and funny to do once, but I wouldn't waste my money on the labels again.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Hella Vanilla Cream Ale

That wouldn't even be necessary. I soaked mine in a small tuperware container then just cracked the lid enough to where I could pour the vodka out but not the beans. Poured directly into the secondary bucket. On another note, my first batch of this was ready to drink on March 30 and its gone...

    Nitro balancing

I did switch it to a regular tap and it was definitely flat. I do have a new batch that I own on putting on nitro though that I am just going to hook up to nitro right from the start at see what happens like ntculenuf suggested. We'll see what happens. I'll be sure to update here but it will be...

    Nitro balancing

I was waiting for the OP to respond so I didn't steal the thread, but I'm seeing no response...anyway to answer your question to me, I don't know 100% for sure that mine is under 1.8vol, how can you tell? I just know its super flat. You are correct, gas is disconnected. It's now been 7 days with...

    Nitro balancing

I'm having almost an identical problem right now. My keg was originally carbed with co2 also, but I burped it for 4-5 days straight until it was as flat as a pancake. The first nitro pour is pretty good, but all the rest after that are pure foam. I'm guessing the first pour being good has...
