I would definitely suggest Cannon Beach for a longer trip but it's a bit out of the way. Netarts and Oceanside are beautiful, only 15-30 away, and way cheaper. Neither have any amenities like Cannon Beach, which is a legit touristy beach town but I like it better that way :D

Rent a beach house in Netarts or Oceanside for the night and take your time... You'll get a beach house for less than a hotel room in Portland and have plenty of time to spend time in Astoria, explore the coast, and not feel rushed at de Garde. FYI no kid's at de Garde. Although I have seen...
