So I just had an interesting experience with a woman...

Dude, she digs you. At least ask her out for drinks or a movie (do the kids still do that???)...btw I'm watching Letterman and wondering why Kiefer Sutherland is wearing a dress and combat boots....

2nd batch is fermenting...is a Big beer too bold?

My 2nd batch is in the fermenter and my 1st is bottle conditioning. I want do do a Big Belgian so I can put my secondary to use, it has been sitting there in my brew equipment box and looking at me, wondering if I'm ever going to use it. I'd like to do a Trippel but I'm not sure it will have...

Beers with pop top (pry off) bottles

I was going to say the same thing. All of the Michelob craft beer series I've had so far are "pry offs".

    First day brewing : disaster

I see sanitation as a 2 edged sword...yup a bad batch can sure be ugly...and yup, folks used to brew in the most unsanitary conditions you could think of, so go with it. I will tell you a bottling story though (my only one since I've only bottled or made one batch)....I'm bottling away, my...

Yeast starter gravity too high.. ditch it or go with the flow?

Newbie here but I cannot resist. It is ruined, sent it to me and I will dispose of it for you :P

Air lock not air tight. Problems?

My 2 cents as someone who has no clue what they are doing...on my first batch (which I just bottled and started my 2nd this weekend) my airlock bubbled some the morning after pitching and I had to go out of town (me + wife - kids = date hehe). When I got back the airlock was not bubbling at...

Almost messed up my 2nd batch

I bottled my first batch today and decided to go ahead and brew another while I had everything clean. Things went even better than my first, especially now that I have a propane burner ;) I was sitting in my chair thinking about how well it went while waiting for the wort to cool when I went...

    My Beer Tastes like.... Beer!

I'm sitting on my first brew myself. Started a Midwest "liberty cream ale" on Dec 26th. I've resisted temptation so far....but I'm thinking that I will have to crack the lid this weekend and at least take a reading.

    No Air Lock Activity

Newbie here with my 2 cents. I started my first brew the 26th. My airlock bubbled a bit after 8-10 hours and then it was 2 days before I looked at it again. Still no bubbles...but the "lock" part of the 3 piece airlock is pushed up at an angle and one of the vent holes in the bottom of that...

Oops! Sanitizer in the brew :(

I just checked the fermenter...we have airlock activity so I'm going to assume everything is ok. Now for the patience part hehe.

Oops! Sanitizer in the brew :(

FYI, the sanitizer was "Easy Clean" No Rinse Sanitizer that came with the kit. It was a Brewers Best kit from Midwest.

Oops! Sanitizer in the brew :(

Not planning to go AG for a while if ever....I want to nail my extract technique first...although I'd love to brew a Belgian Dubbel....patience young grasshopper ;)

Oops! Sanitizer in the brew :(

I guess I'll find out what's going to happen next week. The wife is taking me on a child-less trip tomorrow ;)

Oops! Sanitizer in the brew :(

I'm assuming after it's been bottled of course ;)

Oops! Sanitizer in the brew :(

I'm really hoping I didn't mess up my first batch. I think I'm ok but would like a 2nd opinion. Did a Midwest Liberty Cream Ale extract kit today. Everything went well (other than I need to get a propane burner, the electric stove just takes forever to boil 4 gallons). I decided I'd be...

    Delima with a Midwest mixup

Ok, so do I need to go ahead and do the Irish Red first or can I put the grains, hops and yeast in the fridge and do the cream ale on Christmas day...then do the Red 30+ days later?

    Delima with a Midwest mixup

My wife aka Mrs Claus bought me a kit from midwest. It included an extract ingredient kit which she requested a substitution on since they didn't have what I want with the "kit". Well even though the packing slip clearly stated to sub in a cream ale kit, they shipped an Irish Red Ale kit...

    Just cracked my stovetop...

It's mainly the swmbo factor. I bought a "glass top" (it's actually ceramic......which explains some of the failures I've seen here) 4 years ago. It was the best money I had ever spent. Cleanup is a breeze, it gets hot faster than our old coil electric did and did I mention cleanup is a...

Direct me to a good newbie kit for husband?

I've been hinting around at this one since it has everything I can think of that I don't have and will need to brew my first beer... http://new.midwestsupplies.com/everything-a-carboy-complete-brewing-package-equipment-kit-2.html Comes with a primary, glass secondary, bottling bucket...

Newbie with 2 questions (late extract / bottle reuse)

Thanks for the advice. No worries, I'm not going to try the dubbel until I've got a few brews under my belt. I doubt anything I brew will be as good as the real stuff anyway. I was fortunate enough to spend 2 weeks in Belgium in January....I consumed quite a bit of the local beverages...and...
