    Hefeweizen blow offs

that's something i will have to consider. i once read something on here where someone had developed a method for cleaning the inside of a 5/16" siphon tube, but i can't find it or remember what they wrote. i guess running very hot water or soaking in very hot water wouldn't do the job...

    Hefeweizen blow offs

i have read of several here that had blow offs with Hefe beers. really don't remember what size their primaries were. mine is 6.5 gallons, so i hope that is all good..

    Hefeweizen blow offs

thanks johnsma22, that's what i was hoping you guys would say. if i have a non-controlled blow off in the mine and SWMBO's closet my brewing career could have come to an early end... just wanna be prepared... one more question: should i wait until the airlock has activity to push the...

    Hefeweizen blow offs

I have read from numerous members around here that Hefeweizen's have a tendancy to blow off. it has me a bit timid about using an airlock on my primary bucket this upcoming weekend. I am brewing AHB's Bavarian Hefeweizen... and several people have mentioned they had blow offs with that kit...

seems as soon as i brew i am ready again

i made that mistake on my second brew... went to the computer for no less than 3 mins and my wort went from NO BOIL to all over the stove top very quickly... i don't walk away from the boil now. :drunk:

    AHB Bavarian Hefeweizen

do they make a blow off tube for the plastic buckets? can i just just a 5/16" piece of hose? is that wide enough?

    AHB Bavarian Hefeweizen

het TxBrew, did you brew this one yet...? i just ordered the mini-mash kit yesterday. plan on brewing it next weekend... i have read of a lot of people having major blow offs when fermenting hefe's. did you have any trouble? the reason i ask is my primary is a 6.5 gallon bucket...

Holy ****, Cherry Wheat Carb'd after 1 week

good point Exo, i've got a Double Chocolate Stout in my secondary. OG was 1.070 :rockin: When I racked it Saturday morning the SG was 1.024. 6.0% ABV. My newbie experience tells me that the DC Stout is gonna drop another .003 to .005 on the hydrometer before bottling. I fully expect...

Checking gravity out of a carboy, o2 and sanitization.

that is a great idea... i've been using my auto-siphon to fill my cylinder by actually siphoning. it fills quickly and almost takes two people. ineveitably i always spill a little beer in the process... thanks for the idea of the dual purpose auto-siphon. brilliant :rockin:

what extract did you used on your cherry?

Holy ****, Cherry Wheat Carb'd after 1 week

well the head did not disappear immediately and i understood you about bubbles in the beer. this cherry wheat could use some more carbonation, but it is well on it's way... if the head is not the result of carbonation, are you telling me it's O2 trapped by the liquid when pouring...

    Blueberry recipes?

i just did a Cherry Wheat using a Coopers Extract, pre hopped kit. i added 3 lbs of Cherry puree to my secondary and i think it's gonna be a winner. tried a bottle after 1 week and it tasted GREAT !!!! so my suggestion is turn the blueberries into a puree and add them to the...

Holy ****, Cherry Wheat Carb'd after 1 week

i agree it needs more time in the bottle. i would also agree that the beer actually needs more bubbles in it and not on top of it... but those bubbles in the head just did not appear from out of thin air, they were released from the beer. is that not carbonation? as i stated earlier this...
