    Brau Supply

So then when you use the pump do you leave both ball valves completely open?

Step by Step build a 110v portable PID controller

A lot of people recommend this: https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/hotpod-ewl3.htm

    Brau Supply

Just placed my order for the 120V 5 gallon system. I've looked through the thread but just wanted to follow-up regarding the pump cavitation issues. Have most of the system owners found a second ball valve to control the discharge flow to be the solution to this problem? Thanks!

Leaning towards the GF but let me know if i'm missing something

So I've been doing a lot of research because I've been between a number of different electric brew systems (GF was my primary choice for a period of time). In the end I took some of Texas Wine's advice from another thread on the Brau Supply system and will be purchasing the system without the...

Step by Step build a 110v portable PID controller

Looks like option #2 is the way to go. I greatly appreciate all the advice.

Step by Step build a 110v portable PID controller

I guess I don't see much of a difference since whenever I use the PID I'll be using the element as well. Does anyone have any pros to one way over the other?

Step by Step build a 110v portable PID controller

Thank you! However, I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean in option #2 when you say "element switch ONLY switches element."

Step by Step build a 110v portable PID controller

Yes it is for an ebiab set up. I plan to have this ebiab set up http://brausupply.com/products/unibrau-120v-5-gallon-brew-boss-automated-brew-system Except to save money I'm obviously trying to build my own controller instead of purchasing the brau supply one.

Step by Step build a 110v portable PID controller

15 amps. I definitely wouldn't get close to more than 3 hours of continuous use.

Step by Step build a 110v portable PID controller

Okay, looks like I will have to get the parts and then touch base. I plan to use the pump linked below though which says on the site it pulls 1.05A so shouldn't I be fine with that and the 1500W element? Thanks again for the help! http://brausupply.com/products/brew-pump-24v

Step by Step build a 110v portable PID controller

Bump. I realize this is an old post but I am interested in building the controller featured on the thread with an added pump switch that the quoted post asks about. Appreciate any helpful information!

    First Recipe! Feedback appreciated

Thanks! Should I just add more American two row to make up for the remaining 3% if I reduce the crystal malt to 5%?

    First Recipe! Feedback appreciated

Thanks for the feedback. Is your recommendation regarding the crystal malt because you think it will be too sweet of an IPA with 8%? Also, just so I make sure I understand your recommendation are you saying to typically have 1oz/gallon of aroma hops AND dry hops. So in other words your...

    First Recipe! Feedback appreciated

Hello all, I've been through a number of homebrews but have always either used a recipe kit or found a recipe online. In an attempt to learn how to start creating my own recipes I've started reading Designing Great Beers by Ray Daniels, which I strongly recommend! For my first self-created...

    Learning/building ebiab setup

Okay so just to clarify so I don't burn my apartment down, I would be absolutely fine plugging a 1500W element into this controller: http://brausupply.com/products/brau-20a-120v-electric-brew-controller and then using an adaptor like this to plug into my 15A kitchen outlet...

    Learning/building ebiab setup

Thank you for the recommendations TexasWine. I was actually reading a thread I believe you started awhile back regarding the Brau Supply system. I was sad to see that they use the Ranco Controller now instead of the 15 amp controller that you got. I wouldn't be able to use the 20A controller...
