i forgot to bottle my homebrew. 6 weeks into it. drink it? or dump it?

One of the great things about this site is that it seems everyone here all either has the same issue at some point in their brewing career, or have the experience to help lend some good advice. Like this. I just bottled my 6th batch on Saturday. An extract version of a simple chocolate ale...

    1 for 1 honey & LME?

I've done a few experiments with honey (I LOVE honey!) - pretty much in order to get a very noticable honey scent and taste this is how I use it. Since the honey is nearly 100% fermentable, putting it in during the boil really does seem to 'dry' out the taste - but will give a very, very faint...

    Adding Honey to a Brew

In my (albiet) limited experience in brewing, I did a little experiment. I split a Cream Ale extract kit into two batches. First half as exactly as the recipe stated, the second half added a 16oz bottle of honey at flameout. While it has been noted here, I definately can say that there is...

    bottle sanitation question

This is exactly what I do. Buying the Vinator was one of the best investments I've bought, certainly the best investment for anything I've done bottling wise. Starsan in the Vinator, push down twice, empty of sanitizer, and then directly fill up with homebrew from there and then cap.

    HomeBrewTalk 2012 Big Giveaway

The man in the yellow hat said, "I shall gracefully toss my hat into this ring" as he hit the reply to thread button. Good luck one and all!

    Untested primary bucket and air-lock

I did check this morning before I left the house to notice it still hadn't done anything, so I pushed the lid down, and noticed the Starsan level change in the airlock, so it appears that the bucket is sealed if that is the only test I can do with it. Since the batches are so similar, I would...

    Untested primary bucket and air-lock

Hello all! So, divided up a Cream Ale (extract) kit into two separate 2.5gal batches. First batch brewed last Wednesday, everything went splendidly. Put batch in my first bucket and in the basement where I've placed the other two batches before it. Realized that I needed another primary...

    This is just great!

Straight-up hobby for me. My wife goes into school every Saturday night to work on lesson-plans for the next week, leaving me at home for 3 to 5 hours with nothing to do but watch TV. So, I decided to take up a hobby, and brewing seems to fit the bill. It fills the time, it gets me off the...

Newbie first batch - missed step and questions

So, bring it back out, open it up, take some gravity readings and put it away for 3 days. Then repeat. If the FG is in the range from the kit, do I move to the bottle-bucket and start bottling or rack it to the secondary fermentation carboy? The guy at the FLBS said I'd likely want to move it...

Newbie first batch - missed step and questions

Howdy all! My first batch boiled and placed into the primary last Saturday (Oct 1, 2011). I followed the directions of the kit (malt extract kit, Brewers Best English Brown Ale) almost exactly. I say /almost/ because I did seem to forget a pretty important step, I forgot to take my gravity...

    Sanitizer Question....

10-4 Thank you sir! I have the podcast already downloaded, and will be listening to it on my drive home tonight, and finish it while mowing. Certainly better to hear that my fears are unwarranted than the other way around.

    Sanitizer Question....

Reading, reading, reading. I'm doing lots of reading around here. Reading is a good thing, and it is oh-so-much-better to be prepared with knowledge than to end up with a bad batch after all that work. I boiled and primary(ed) my first 1/2 batch Saturday night. I used a no-rinse sanitizer...
