    Berliner Weiss Braggot

a mixed ferment is totally do able. I just think the end product is much less predicable (which can be a good thing!). How I go about it, I know when my beer is done, and I know when my mead is down. I can then figure out the best ratio for my taste (or whatever ratio to fill the keg...

    cleaning bret infected kegs

after a thorough cleaning and overnight soak with PBW (fill the keg to the top, put all of the parts into it, disassembled) and then an overnight soak with Star San, I consider the keg 100% good to go for anything. I dont even think that is all necessary, but it works for me. I have used the...

    Berliner Weiss Braggot

I have done a Berliner Braggot before.. Came out really nice actually. I am of the school of thought of blending a finished beer with a finished mead to create a braggot (instead of a mixed ferment) I did 50/50 of a cherry melomel, and a berliner weisse. The final product was nice and...

    ECY-01 (Bugfarm) -

In my experience with ECY01, it really helps if you push it a little warmer during the first 24-48 hours. I have seen really long lag with that strain if it it under 70. Pitch at 74/75 and let it start up, then cool to your desired temp. Over the past few years, my standard is pitch at 75...

    Ecy03 farmhouse brett...sour?

I have done 4 saisons with ECY03 and all have shown that same "lemony" tartness and fruit that Fantome Saison shows. Not really sour, but obviously tart. Al told me that levels of acidity should be expected with that blend.

    Ridiculously longterm aging?

As another option, you may want to try making a sack Mead. Above 15%, it should be really something amazing in 5-8 years.

    NHC 2013 Photo Thread

I am glad you liked it! That was based on a beer by Tom Eagan in our club. It was a 60 something gallon batch. 130 Lb of Belgian Pilsner, 3 lbs of Carafoam, and I forget the % of cane sugar. ECY13 Trappist Ale yeast, Secondary in a freshly dumped Laird's Apple Brandy Barrel...

2013 NHC in Philly! Who's going?

Pretty much exactly this. Anyone who tried it can thank my wife for telling me to get rid of the giant bag of whole leaf Mosaic in my freezer. The recipe is actually really simple. The hop additions were an exercise in excess. 10 gallons at the end, but due to the crazy loss of wort due...

2013 NHC in Philly! Who's going?

Thanks Jeremy! That one was mine and I was really proud of it. Kinda freaked out when Jamil Z. come over and asked for a full glass, like 3 times. I was beside myself for about a day after that.

2013 NHC in Philly! Who's going?

Still recovering from the 4 best days I can mostly remember. Club night was legendary ( I would love Club night to be split up next year though. 1/2 of the clubs one night, and half the next. Would be able to try more other beers, and really don't need a Pro Night anymore with the amount of...

    2013 NHC first round results?

I can 100% attest to the fact that your beer in no way sucks. Check out the NY one though. Our club did make the board :)

New Jersey 14.5 Blichmann Fermenator with Tri-clamp - local only

I have a 14.5 Blichmann Fermenator with tri-clamp fittings and the blow off assembly. Bought it and love it, but doesn't work for my brewing situation (brewing outside solo, and needing to carry it myself..) I have replaced all of the rubber gaskets and fittings with Blichmann replacements...

New Jersey Guitars, Effects, Amp. - Lambertville /West NJ

Running out of space in the house, and only so much time in the day to play anymore, so I am looking to sell a few of my guitars and stuff. I will post pictures later in the day. Would prefer local on the guitars, so you can try it out first. Also, would like local on the amp, because no fun...
