    Our dreams are finally answered....

The beer-filled pools are recommended for persons with "dirty skin, open wounds and psoriasis." Yeah, don't think I want to drink the pool water...

Storm messed up my brewday; what are the consequences?

One of my most-used brewing tools: Black Diamond Cosmo Headlamp from Backcountry.com Whether it's checking on fermentation in a poorly-lit basement or late-night boils outside, this thing is a godsend. Plus it's great for snail-hunting in my garden.

Different cold crash question - logistics

I was just trying to crash it for 48 hours for clarity purposes. I guess I was just too stingy with the ice. I dumped in two bags and the probe in the ice bath now reads 39 F.

Different cold crash question - logistics

Heh...just got on to find some info on cold crashing...my question is different than the other guy's, though. I'm trying to do my first cold crash, but I don't have a fridge to crash in. What I tried to do was put my carboy in a big tub of ice water. But what I'm finding is that this isn't...

The one bit of advice I want to give other beginners

True. But if it's 1 am, you're drunk, and there is a McDonald's within walking distance, it might seem like a good idea.

The one bit of advice I want to give other beginners

After a few brews, I've learned ONE thing, and one thing only. Feed yourself before you start your brewing process. Once you start doing your mash you will get distracted, and you'll try to feed yourself only with beer, because you HAVE to drink while you brew, and by the end of the 4-5 hour...

    Why not dry hop?

A lot of very good answers there. My inquiry obviously came from inexperience, as I've only brewed a couple of times and all three batches were pretty much the same recipe for an ESB (trying to get it right, still).

    Why not dry hop?

I've only brewed a couple of batches, but I like hops and I like hop aroma and I've dry hopped every time. I see people stating that they've never dry hopped before or debating whether they should dry hop or not. This is a rookie question, I know, but why would you NOT dry hop? I know BJCP...

Beer for Breakfast!? How 'bout you?!!

Is it abnormal to drink beer with breakfast? Weissbier is the breakast drink of choice for many Bavarians. Northern Germans tend to drink sparkling wine with breakfast. Only in America is there this stigma of drinking before noon. I think it's silly. I tend to prefer a dark beer with...

    Aluminum mash tun

Ummm...maybe I'm confused but it's a kettle. Why wouldn't he just use it like any other heatable mash tun? I mash in a cooler but don't a lot of people mash in kettles, adding bottom heat to hit and maintain temps?

    Brewing in Pairs

It was no biggie. After making a lot of mistakes on our first two batches, I wanted to invite over a brewer friend who knows what he's doing to guide us through the next batch. He says no, we need to just learn from our mistakes, do more reading, research, and better planning, and go it our...

    Brewing in Pairs

Thanks for the quick answers. The argument was more on the philosophical side, not on the technique side. It was a stupid argument, but knowing us, I expect more arguments. I think maybe the best way for us to solve this is if each of us "owns" our own recipes. But I know both of us will...

    Brewing in Pairs

My buddy and I are just getting into homebrewing. I did one batch, then he jumped in and we've done two batches together. We are both very opinionated and stubborn people. We got into an argument over our approach to brewing last time. My question is, do most people brew solo, or do you brew...

    New to this rodeo

I got bucked off my first two rides. Third ride I finished all 8 seconds, but am still awaiting my score (it's in the fermenter). I live in SLC, Utah and wanna brew some good beer! If anybody around this area can point me toward our apparently hidden homebrew clubs, that'd be great.
