I could play that song too. " Pour some sugar on me"

    Confession Time

I haven't once remembered to pour priming sugar in the bottling bucket before I rack . I always have to pour it in and stir later once i remember. Sometimes I have to dump a few bottles back in the bucket by the time I remember. I think this week while bottling, I will do it right. Probably not...

    Bottle condition after cold crash?

I do believe that shaking was required too, it like making a yeast starter. A couple of bottles were not shaken and are not bottle conditioned yet (another design of experiments ). Yeast starters need to be stirred or shaken to impart O2 and prevent settling. O2 in a finished beer is bad...

    Bottle condition after cold crash?

I wouldn't shake the bottles. Have you tried warming them up to room temperature without shaking?

bang for my buc kettle opinions?

C: love your username. Im a big TP fan Thanks, my given name is Thomas Paine, so I thought it a fitting user name for this forum, because we are all revolutionaries here. And yes, stealing kegs is bad. But it's not hard to gain legal possession of them.

bang for my buc kettle opinions?

Yes fabrication is needed for a keggel, and they are much heavier. I think I payed $50 for mine including the installed ball valve, so as a poor man I'm happy with it. People are against it because the deposit on a keg is less than what it is worth, so prices will be driven up for smaller...

bang for my buc kettle opinions?

There are probably a lot of people in these forums who are against this practice.

bang for my buc kettle opinions?

I would find a half keg on Craigslist for less than $50 and make a keggel. Look into the legal aspects of this though. Never use a keg from a brewery other than a conglomerate company because the keg deposit is less than what it is worth.

    It's a homebrew thing... you wouldn't understand.

People at parties think I'm weird when I'm so generous with my brew. I would give away a whole keg to a bunch of strangers if I could watch them thoroughly enjoy it. I'm not sure I would home brew if I didn't have anyone to share with.

Should I add grapefruit zest after fermentation?

Even if I just get aroma from it I'll be happy. I love IPAs that smell like citrus explosion.

Should I add grapefruit zest after fermentation?

Thanks, I will throw some zest in tonight and not worry about sanitizing. I'm already cold crashed, dry hopped, and ready to bottle soon, so to prevent bottle bombs, I don't want to add juice this time.

Should I add grapefruit zest after fermentation?

Thanks for the help. It may be a good excuse for me to buy some vodka. If not I may do a tea in the water that I dissolve my priming sugar in. I just don't want an overly bitter bite from the rind. This will definitely be a first for me. I will update.

    Adding Grapefruit After Ferm

I was just going to use zest, so I'm not worried about extra sugar. I'm not sure starsan would sanitize zest. If it would, I would give it a try instead of boiling. Maybe I'll do a gallon test, and see how it does.

Should I add grapefruit zest after fermentation?

I just received a bunch of really nice local Grapefruit and was thinking that my IPA I am bottling next weekend would taste good with some zest. Has anyone ever added it at bottling or during cold crash? I could boil it up with the priming sugar or just boil some to sterilize and add it to the...

When taking the Final Gravity, Where's the Alcohol??

It is sugars that may be dispersed differently throughout the carboy and you may get a slightly different readings from different levels. Nothing to worry about though.
