    Brewer's Hardware Kettles

Gotcha, I wasn't sure if the dip tube would have enough play to fit through a false bottom, but I guess the 1 inch tube through the 1.5" ferrule is enough space to wiggle it in there before clamping.

    Brewer's Hardware Kettles

Is there a hole in the false bottom for the dip tube to fit through? It looks like there is, but hard to tell because of all the shiny!

Sweet... Take some pics if you don't mind.

    Brewer's Hardware Kettles

Does anyone have a mashtun kettle from Brewer's Hardware? How does he handle the dip tube with the false bottom?

Ha! Yes, I remember, but that was after I'd already finished the plumbing!

So I did my first brew on this rig about 2 weeks ago. I decided to do a 10gal batch of a simple blond ale (23lbs Pale 2-row, 1lb crystal, 2oz Willamette). I ran into a few snags but otherwise a pretty successful brew day and it seems I have beer in the fermenter. First off I couldn't get my...

Any pics or tricks to cutting a keg bottom completely out?

Not if the handle holes are still there!

That's a good point. As I have it now I should be good. My current set-up is BK-Pump-Chiller-Valve-Fermenter.

I have a question if anyone is still looking at this thread. Does it matter if your valve is before or after the plate chiller? I figure as long as it is after your pump it functions to limit the flow rate the same either way.

    Chiller Manifold Idea

He may be using it as a hop back, but that thing is the trub filter from brewershardware.com Why the two outputs from your valve/thermometer assembly? Are you going to have an oxygen tank or something?

It's been a while since I had a chance to update this thread. I haven't had a weekend off in a while but by FIL has done a little extra work. We added a water line in copper that's on the back of the rig. There is an inline filter and two valves so I can use the same line to fill my HLT and then...

    20+ Tap Beer Bar System

Couldn't you just build your walk-in with an angled wall? Then everything stays inside. You'd lose a bit of space behind the bar, but that's already going to be the case with the board the way you've drawn it. Plus you don't have to worry about putting a tree back there.

    A better bottling 'bucket'?

Another great tip I use when bottling inside. Put your bucket on the counter above your dishwasher and open the dishwasher door. All your overflow/drippings will go onto the dishwasher and not onto your floor. Also I use the dishwasher on its heated dry setting to finish sterilizing my bottles...

Yeah, I hear ya on that. We were testing for leaks and let the pump run for 30 minutes or so outside the shop and the direct sun on the black casing and on the stainless got that thing pretty hot. I have drip/heat shields to put over the motor body and I hope that most of the heat from the...

We made a bunch of progress this weekend, unfortunately I'm not going to have another free weekend until at least July! So it might be a while before I post completed pictures. Here's the latest though. Finished all of the plumbing for the RIMS system. The keggles are done except for site...

Got more work done this past weekend. We're close to having a functional system. Just got to do all the hard plumbing. Here's my RIMS tube. I have ferrules with threaded fittings for heating element and RTD to go on either end. By the way, derrin over at BrewersHardware.com is selling those...

    Describe your ideal fermentation/serving chamber

Yeah, I have an idea how I want to do my area. I'm asking for what you would like to have in your ideal area. My brewing area is going to be outside under the deck. I'm just eyeing this space as a fermentation, storing, serving space.

    Describe your ideal fermentation/serving chamber

I think I have a chance to do something really cool in my unfinished basement. The stairs leading down there are shaped like a U as they come down. There is enough space under the stairs to build an insulated walk-in fermentation chamber. Also I have preliminary approval from SWMBO to put a bar...

Well, these regulators say they go from 0-10PSI. To me, zero means no flow, but maybe I'm wrong about that. Either way, a ball valve will fix that issue.
