My cousin builds panels for a living and can source the parts cheaply. The only thing he wasn't sure about was installing the element in my kettle, which I could probably do but would rather have someone experienced do for me :)
Anyone converted a kettle to electric before? I know there are tons of resources here to help me do it myself, but I lack a lot of the necessary tools and was wondering if someone might be able to help me with some conversions.
Take the base malt bill, sub 5.5 lbs. of DME for the 2-row, mash the rest?
You can figure out a conversion if you want - 1 lb. of grain = 0.6 lb. DME. Not sure how much you can mash.
Glad you guys have found so much success with this recipe! I just brewed a variation of it on Sunday and it is turning out great so far. I used some Simcoe hops I had lying around this time and the combination has been great so far.
