May well have spoiled my very first batch on bottling day..

I need to get an autosiphon, I always have a hard time with getting my siphon going and all that. I'm sure I got some water in my first brew (I just started, I'm on my fifth batch). RDWHAHB (or since you haven't finished making it yet, drink something else! :).

Using milk to stick on labels?

Haha, as I read this my four month old is on my lap getting her supper. I'll have to try it. :D

    Is it good?

Why would you have to buy all of them?

Running low (aka how do you get a pipeline?)

It sounds like you just need to be organized and consistent. Do you brew 3 batches every weekend? Every month?

How fast do you consume 5 gallons of home brew?

Two people here takes a little over two weeks. It would probably take less if we had more around, which with two fermenters going now will soon be the case! :D

    Widmer X-114 (Citra) IPA

This was soo delicious. I didn't understand what all the talk about Citra was until now. Definitely going to try to get my hands on some!

    Grapefruit Pale Ale

Has anyone gotten a noticeable grapefruit flavor in their beer? I was thinking that maybe grapefruit could be used for bittering but it sounds like it's not so easily done. Anyone want to weigh in on this again? I know this thread is only a few months old but I figure it can't hurt to check.

    mead question

There is a mead section of the forum. You might get more exposure there.

    Commercial IPAs

Man, you lucky guy in Eugene (I moved almost two hours away due to school and miss it, lots!). I just bought a six-pack of the X-114, and it blew this uninitiated IPA person away. It tastes just like the hops do when I'm brewing! Also, I had some Total Domination the other day when I was...

    Breakout Beer

My first taste of beer was on a trip to Germany. I can't remember if I was 20 or 21. It was some kind of weissbier and I wish I could remember what it was. Our host wasn't really a beer drinker but knew we'd be there and thought we ought to have some German beer. After that, we had rauchbier at...

Major breakthrough on hop-fragrances for men!

I can smell brewing from the grocery store across the street from our house if the windows are open :P

Not just new to brewing; new to beer

You're not alone. I really don't know that much about beer, since I just started drinking a few years ago. I do love beer in general, though, and my husband knows a fair amount. We are just finishing the first hefeweizen I made (I've drunk plenty of it before, but just here and there) and now I...

    This sucks 1st time bottling

The first time I bottled I finished up cleaning my bottles on the same day. Not so fun. I just let them soak in super hot water for a while and then scrub them off. It's not so fun, but it sounds a lot less time consuming than boiling them. Also, now that I have them clean, I wash them as we...

Lagering Outdoors This Winter (in Oregon)

No snow here. I can't really dig a hole because we're at an apartment and hardly any yard, either. Too bad I don' t near a cave :P

Lagering Outdoors This Winter (in Oregon)

This is the first winter that I'll be brewing here in the Willamette Valley. As those of you who live here know, the temps stay above freezing for most of the winter but don't get that warm, either. Last year the temperature read about 43.5 almost every day (at least when I happened to glance...

    Post Junkies

Yeah, when is that going to open!? I live in Newberg and drive through Dundee on the way to McMinville and I've noticed that thing ever since we've been here (over a year now) with no action happening. Did they just forget it and leave the sign up?
