    Visiting Ithaca Beer - Suggestions?

Oh yeah, forgot. Ithaca makes great beer. I visited there two weeks ago and got a growler of the Nut Brown to go.

    Visiting Ithaca Beer - Suggestions?

Sled Dog from Wagner was the only brew I liked by them. I thought the rest were sub-par. Maybe I visited on a bad day. The server didn't know anything about the beers he was serving us.

    Watchmen

IMO, if you've read the comic you'll be more apt to dislike the movie. But Malin Akerman gets naked and nudity can make any movie good no matter how much you are hating it.

Best line in the movie!! I read the graphic novel. It was awesome. The movie deviated in a couple of spots which kinda bothered me, but overall it was okay. Read the graphic novel if you get a chance. Much better than the movie and it definitely better defines the characters and their...

    Cisco Brewery Nantucket Island

The wife and I went their last year on our trip to Cape Cod. We thought the beer was forgettable. I did like the Grey Lady, though. Cape Cod Beer in Hyannis is pretty good. I like their Red Ale!

    Theobroma

I tried this last month. I had bought a bottle about 4 or 5 months ago and finally got around to it. I really liked this beer and I think cocoa and chilis flavor came through nicely. I think this is one of their better push the envelope beers. Way better than the Palo Santo Marron, Yuck!

    Maredsous Dubbel

Anyone tried Maredsous Dubbel? Tried it last week at the Empire State Brewing and Music Festival. I loved this beer. Probably the best beer at the festival in IMO. I tried the Blonde too, but the Dubbel (I think the server called it Bruin) was fantastic!

To Clone Or Not To Clone???

I followed styles for the first two beers. I made a porter and then a basic amber ale from the kits. Then I jumped and tried a clone and it came out nothing near the original. But it wasn't a total loss. I think clone recipes are good way to see how to formulate a beer recipe.

What book should I get next.. Designing Great Beers?

+1 on Radical Brewing by Randy Mosher. Very good book for styles and for what he refers to bent beers. DGB is a very good book too, points out the styles and how to formulate the recipe for the right beer. I think reading RB gave me more ideas for brews to do whereas DGB pointed me in the...

The "official" what/how YOU started thread

In college, I interned at a place where a lot of the people at work homebrewed. I always thought that sounded awesome and that I wanted to try, though I never pursued it. A couple of years ago I went to a party and was introduced to a guy who homebrewed. I mentioned to my wife, at the time just...
