Not sure I understand proper probe placement with HERMS...

Yes, we have done a few BCS systems. RIMS and direct fire. So far, no customers have actually ordered a HERMS system manual or otherwise. I think averaging the Coil Exit and the grain temperature would be better. It's the actual grain temperature that is the final target. What would really be...

rtd option that fits my cheap side

A little pricey but a far more elegant solution than what Auber offers for a similar price.

Not sure I understand proper probe placement with HERMS...

HERMS coil exit is the most accurate location to identify actual wort temperature. Mash Tun Kettle is the most accurate location to measure actually mash temperature. 3 sensors would be the best scenario: HLT kettle, HERMS coil exit, MT kettle. The purpose of the PID is to prevent temperature...

20 gallon brews, help with burner suggestion!

The other name for the burners Cash is using is BG10. One reason we steer clear of them is because they are extremely loud. Then again, sound alone is a safety feature... right? Noise = gas is burning. I'm a firm believer in tri-clad kettles, however, since we build custom stands and often do...

The adventures of a complete noob and a brew rig

These switches do not even have a place for a ground. Assuming the panel is powered by plugging it in, the cord should be 2 conductor with ground and plugged into a GFCI outlet. The box the cord goes into should be grounded to the cord. From there, anything you want to ground can be tied back...

My Brutus 10 build...Plobelms with the gas!

I didn't see that he had already drilled them. They're too large now. A high pressure regulator won't cure the problem because the gas valves have a maximum working pressure of .5 PSI / 11" W.C. Time to order new orifices.

My Brutus 10 build...Plobelms with the gas!

Banjo/BG14 burners come standard with high pressure orifices from China. And most are sold that way. The orifice (the brass fitting) will need to be drilled out. We use size .078" (#47). We also use a needle valve inline before the burner for full flame height control.

Why does he need a ground on the switches?

    Feedback on Control Panel plans

Wouldn't relays for 220V be a better solution? No need for different wire or contact sizes and it conforms with standard engineering practices.
