    weak flame on my bg14

YEP! Full flame height at 11" W.C. using the proper orifice should be 1" - 1.5" You don't need a 2 - stage regulator. A simple barbecue low pressure regulator will work just fine.

    flexible hose for brewstand

Like I said CGA hose is rated at 350 PSI and it is embossed in the hose. This is used on commercial and residential propane systems. We used to buy hose from Suburban Propane until we started buying in bulk. Tell me Suburban Propane's equipment is not insurable. Yes, we are talking different...

    Question about Fly Sparging

It's dependent on how good your mash tun's insulation, temperature of your sparge water and how concerned you are with maintaining temperature during the sparge. You are basically rinsing the remaining sugars so it's questionable how critical temperature needs to be. The key thing is not to use...

    Question about Fly Sparging

it's personal choice as to whether to keep the lid open. The main reason to keep it closed is to maintain heat. The main reason to keep the lid open is to maintain a constant level, not draining or filling too fast. Sparge arms look cool but keeping an inch of wort above the grain bed and a...

    New system build

Boy have you opened a can of worms... This could take 50 pages of comments to answer... There is plenty of information here on HBT and all over the web explaining RIMS and HERMS. As for design ideas there are plenty of those here too. Good luck on your project. Post pics, we all love pics.

    Injecting Oxygen and Chilling

:off: Purely one man's observation. I'm not knocking the vendor, simply pointing out the cost of their products in relation to the cost of the individual parts. I said nothing in regard to the quality. Something to note: When we build systems, our customers are NOT limited in the parts...

    Injecting Oxygen and Chilling

Despite other replies, what you're looking to do is quite common. Most brewers build their own. Fast chilling and the addition of clean oxygen are both beneficial. If you look at Sabco's BrewMagic site, they have a Chill-Wizard that does just what you are looking for at $830. We could build you...

    kettle for an mlt?

A certain volume of liquid is required to prevent scorching. Dumping wort directly into a kettle would be a high risk operation. Brewers use either a RIMS or HERMS setup for this reason. If you chose to place a burner under the MT, you will want to use a false bottom to provide the volume needed.
