    Help wiring my DPST switch

Pictures, linky? Unless there is a separate power source for the light OT should be powered from the AC, maybe try switching to the other set of poles as only one would likely power the light

    I have a ? for ya

Two different packs of yeast? Maybe one was older and less viable?

    North Carolina

Im way down inside 485 Charlotte, I do BIAB and will be trying to crank out a batch sometime this next week... though I do need to move that fermentation chamber to the new house before I can brew.

    Show off your fermentation chambers

Most definitely. Its made of 1x2's spaced ~1" apart mounted to 1x4's that are resting on 2x2's that are part of the frame. I havent seen any signs of weakness and it holds a 6.5 gal carboy fully loaded just fine.

    Show off your fermentation chambers

Here is my chamber, I went vertical due to space limitations and it has worked well enough for me. Currently its almost empty in preparation of moving and maybe some improvements and modifications. In peak usage I can rotate 3x 5-6.5 gallon carboys in milkcrates as well as a milkcrate and hump...

    Show off your fermentation chambers

The window air unit should be able to recirculate the interior air to avoid having to have an exhaust. As for condensation issues, Im not sure their purpose but I do see two PVC pipes sticking up through the top of the chamber. Could have a bucket of Damp-rid up there to combat the humidity.

    Additions to secondary fermenter

I prefer a 24 hr alcohol soak for most of my secondary additions so far. Alcohol tends to leach flavors so I dump the whole lot in and figure it'll add a point or two to the FG

Adding dried peppers to the secondary

I recently split a smash beer into multiple secondaries two of which were habanero tests. I did 3.5g of fresh habanero de seeded and de veined and 3.5 roasted de seeded de veined and de skinned. Both sets were soaked in vodka for 24 hrs before being racked onto. I let these secondary for 1 week...

    Reusing Yeast

To clarify on the warming up, yeasties don't like sudden temperature changes, like at all. Pitching a 30d vial from the fridge into a 70d batch is a bit extreme, and easily avoidable.

    Reusing Yeast

Yes to warming up I would only do a starter to check viability, but if you are certain everything stayed clean when proofing your yeast you should be good to warm and pour it right in!

    Ok Im Drunk, now what?

Where am I? If home, keep drinking.. If other, figure out escape plan and then keep drinking as needed.

Fermentation Chamber build, witty title coming soon.

I wanted to fit a minimum of 3 carboys in the fermentation chamber as well as some room for "cellaring" some bottles if I want to keep them around a while. With the multi level I can save valuable floor space and its been working out really well having the top a few degrees cooler than the...

    Help wiring my DPST switch

The switch is ungrounded... ground is not a "part" of most circuits.

    Help wiring my DPST switch

DPST switches are divided left and right by the little plastic barrier. To wire the switch, connect it in series with a circuit on either the right or left side (or one circuit per side).

Washing & saving yeast (noob question)

Read through the linked yeast harvesting tutorials and you should be on the right track. In a carboy after racking to a bottling bucket I dump about a quart of boiled and chilled (to the wort temp to minimize temp shock) and swirl it up. If I've added the right amount of water I can lay the...

    Can you re-bottle?

I doubt in a competition that they are trying to drink all 12 oz in that bottle! Likely pour less than half and drink less than that.

    Am I doin ok?

I am by no means an expert in beer or wine making, but yeast eat up sugars to make alcohol, so most of the sweetness in a wort or must will be consumed by the yeast. If it is bitter, you may be able to backsweeten at bottling time with a sweetner that is not fermentable. Also depending on how...

Cider House Select Mix in a 5 Gallon Carboy

Not gonna lie, my cherry cider kit never smelt that great, and when I sampled at one week I thought it was going to be a dumper, but another week later it tasted better and at bottling after adding the flavor packet it was pretty darn good. I've got probably another week till I pop open one of...

    Electrical wiring question

The GFCI should have a pigtail that terminates to the neutral bus bar. The load neutral should terminate to the GFCI breaker, however a 220v element should just need the two hots and a ground. Post some pictures as somethings not right here.

Get used to the waiting ;p In the mean time, go buy another carboy, you know youre going to do it soon enough anyways, lol!
