South Jersey/Philly Group Buy... ROUND 3!

I'll go 1/3 or 1/4 on the 40l. I also need: 1 sack of cmc pilsner 1 sack of cmc pale wheat (or white wheat, whatever they sell it as) 2 sacks of tf maris otter 10 sacks of cmc 2 row I'm looking to split a sack into thirds or quarters of: victory 80l 120l and probably anything...

South Jersey/Philly Group Buy... ROUND 2!

It won't take too long. We're probably going to go with 15 sacks plus any specialty that anyone would like to split.

    AG Average Brew Time

3 hours and 15 minutes consistently. The first thing I do is start my water heating, then weigh and mill grains. When I'm done the only thing left to do is clean my CFC and boil kettle. That's for 5 gallon batches

Letting it sit on the trub

I'll put my 2 cents in. I primary for 3 weeks then keg. I have a spigot on my boil kettle. I use a CFC. When I start the wort flowing, I let all the trub go into a separate container. When it is clear wort, I put my bucket under it to catch it. When I start drawing break material at the...

South Jersey/Philly Group Buy... ROUND 2!

Oldbrew, if we can find another or two people to go thirds or quarters on the roasted barley then I'll take that on the next buy. Also interested in a third or quarter of just about any other specialty on the next buy as well, so if anyone wants to split, then I am up for it.

South Jersey/Philly Group Buy... ROUND 2!

I've got munich and I really don't need that amount of roasted barley, sorry I can't help you out with it. I think I'm probably in on the citra then.

Just a bump for anyone that didn't see this. OldBrew, there might be a horseshoe pit there. I'll check. It's nice for me. Only about a half mile away!!!!

South Jersey/Philly Group Buy... ROUND 2!

I was thinking of buying an 11 pound bag of hops on the next buy (along with about 15 sacks of base malt and any specialty grains that anyone wants to split). I can get citra hops from NCM. If anyone would like to buy some, I will be selling them by the pound. I was planning on keeping about...

LOL,actually, we have a good water supply. basically the rule is that if you brew you have to bring a hose and a tee. We usually have a BBQ guy come, but I don't know if he'll be there this year. I can line up a pizza guy and maybe someone else, but we're less than an eighth mile to a bunch of...

How much do you start a 10g keggle batch boil with?

I get about 14 gallons to boil down to 11. When it's cold outside I get 14.5.

Awesome. We have never done the big brew recipe, but if it's good then we might do it. If we can get people there early enough then we can try to cycle the big kettle twice to do 2 25 gallon batches. I'll have equipment to do 10 gallon batches and possibly loaner equipmentfor the same. I'll...

If we do it, it'll be in Turnersville. We are planning on having it at the Whitman Square Mens Club on Whitman drive as long as we get enough people to justify the rental, and it's looking good so far.

    All South Jersey/Philadelphia area brewers

National Homebrew Day is quickly approaching. Our club has thoughts of renting an area to brew this year since BeerCrafters has closed. Our thought was that to make it worthwhile, we'd like to get more brewers involved. The sight will be in Turnersville less than 2 miles from the original sight...

    50 gallon boil

Lol, and the "enforcer" chimes in. I'm certain you broke the law in some way today. Maybe it was a simple little thing like speeding???? If the beer is all gone then how can you prove that I actually brewed? All they can count is what's in the keg now, and as long as it isn't over 200 then...

    All South Jersey/Philadelphia area brewers

Just wanted to add that all you have to do is come and brew/drink/enjoy. There's usually loaner equipment around if you don't want to bring anything. Nobody has to pay for the rental, our club will pick up the tab for that. Our events are usually pretty big. Last year with the rain we had...

    50 gallon boil

I'm assuming an 18-20% boil off for my 40 gallon kettle, but it may be even more
  19. T

    could this get any cheaper?

I could make 10 gallons of that beer for about $17 not including yeast or propane (I reuse my yeast)
