    BIAB Rack

I use a vegetable steamer opened up in a 5 gal pot for 2.5 gallon batches.

Improved my BIAB Sparge Efficiency drastically

I also stir it for a minute or 2 at each 20 minute mark during the mash. One last stir at 60 minutes and then a 10 min mashout at 170 degrees.

    Adding Fruit Extract

Didn't boil it, just poured it in. No wheat. The recipe from the Magic Hat guy on a "can you brew it" episode says it was 98 percent marris otter and 2 percent crystal 80 so that's what I did.

    Adding Fruit Extract

I just did a #9 Clone. I added extract to the secondary after 10 days in the primary. I can't tell you how it turned out yet as it has another week left to carb up. The hydro sample from bottling tasted pretty good though.

    Boil Longer to Increase OG?

I just did a 2.5 gallon brew as a BIAB, I've only done 2 so I am no expert. I only had 5.5 lbs of grain for a Magic Hat #9 clone. I mashed in with 3.5 gallons of water (.15/gal per lb absortion rate) left me with 2.75 gallons preboil. There is no sparge with BIAB unless you need to come up to...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

No ,you can't make it from a kit. It's something you make from scratch and use your Mr. Beer equipment to make. Can't be much simpler, apple juice, dextrose and yeast. If you carb it, it will come out dry like a wine. If you kill the yeast and then add sugar it will be sweeter but will be still...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I concur with the above poster, I made one of their cider kits and it seemed light, not very tasty. I would look at scaling down Ed Wort's Apfelwein to 2 gallons. Its much nicer!

    Brown Ale recipe help

What container are you sparging in? I don't think 6lbs of grain is going to fit in a 1 gallon pot. Because of the size of your pot you may want to consider a modified brew in a bag. Mash with as much water you can fit in your pot with your grains and then sparge with as much water as you need to...

The people at the Curling Center at Fairland are very nice. Used to go watch after dropping off our son for Friday Night skate. Yes, there is beer there, and wings and lots of people and all skill levels.

    1 gallon resources / questions

I have done a few 2.5 gallon AG Brew in a bag brews. I also use beersmith and just scale down the recipe. I just figure all of the mash and sparge water from beersmith and start with that. For 5.5 lbs of grain it works out to around 3.5 gallons to start . I made the bags from a set of sheer...

    BIAB bag size

As per the Aussie article, the bag should be big enough for you to stick your brew pot inside it and still be able to close it. I made mine out of a sheer curtain set from Target, and got 4 bags out of it for $ 9.00.

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

Ron I found a 3 gallon HDPE #2 container at our local deli. It is square has a built-in handle and a large cap. They get their salad oil in them and throw them away. Also the peanut oil for turkey fryers comes in a 3 gallon container.

    Munton's Carb drops...

I used some Muntons in some Apfelwein that I made. I wanted it sparkly so I used 5 in the 12 oz bottles and 9 in the 22 oz bottles cam out fine.I just swirled them around every few days for the first 2 weeks and everything is dissolved.

NO CHILL beer, and chill haze... UGH

I do 2.5 gallon batches and got a couple of 3 gallon HDPE containers from the deli down the street. They are square and have a handle. They get their vegetable oil in them- If you know someone who frys turkeys they are the same oil containers. Free is good. I don't plan on long storage ,just no...
