    Wort Chiller Help

thanks for the quick responses! ended up going out to the brewhouse and using both of your ideas. Unfortunately, i do not have the means to flare the copper, or the funds for pressure fittings at the moment. Like I said, i bought this stuff a few weeks ago, and then had some things happen that...

    Wort Chiller Help

A few months back, I built (cheaply) an immersion wort chiller using 20 feet of 3/8 copper. I didn't purchase a tubing bender, and so i got a bunch of kink, and the damn thing spewed all over my first all grain wort. It had so many kinks, it was unusable and i threw it out. Fast forward to...

    How to secure paint strainer

Yea I'm stoked. I'd never dry hopped (or kegged) before. Went to the LHBS to pick up some more cascade to dry hop with and he had just gotten in Simcoe. I'd never used it, but had heard great things. Used my theif to pull a sample before I kegged it, and damn. That was mighty tasty.

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Just put this in the keg. It was my first AG batch, so I figured it should also be my first kegged batch. I dry hopped with 2 oz of Simcoe. That was my only change. Tasted awesome going into the keg. I'm glad because this is my most expensive beer. Between the burner and kettle, mash tun...

    How to secure paint strainer

Cool thanks. Figured it'd be simple. I thought about Putting the strainer on the end of the hose, but wasn't sure if that would aerate the beer going into the keg. On a positive note, the beer tasted super good. Followed the recipe exactly using cascade but ended up dry hopping with 2oz of...

    How to secure paint strainer

Bought a keg setup today and got everything cleaned and ready. When it came time to rack into the keg, I couldn't figure out the best way to get the paint strainer to stay attached to the auto siphon (I dry hopped w pellets). Ended up using zip ties. Had to cram it down into the neck of the...

My first try of making Beer

pretty sure the iodine test is only for all grain. that being said, if you did the iodine test after your mash, and the sugars converted correctly, the color should not change. if it changes to black, you did not have conversion.

    Training my palate.

If you wanted to do it quicker, you could just make hop tea.

    Cost of Kegging?

If you get a basic setup, it's not that bad. It's the additional cornies, faucets, and other stuff that adds up. I'm about to buy a keg setup, and until I'm in a position to build a keezer or find a decent kegerator on CL, I'll just use the tap that comes with it.

    New to all grain

+1 I've read "how to brew", "the complete joy of homebrewing", and one that I can't remember the name of (I just gave it away). howtobrew.com is the online version of How To Brew. However, it is the first edition. I'd highly recommend going to a bookstore and picking up the newest edition. It's...
