If Ryan Braun played in New York...

If Ryan Braun played in New York instead of Milwaukee, they'd be hailing him as the next Mickey Mantle about now. When you watch the guy hit, his eyes are as big as silver dollars and it looks like he could hit a double or a home run on every at bat if he wanted to. Assuming his career is not...

    Yost is toast

I think you are right. (I'm agreeing with a Cubs fan)? My first question when I saw this was why didn't they do this much earlier-- like before the season even started. The Brewers certainly have their weaknesses, but there's no denying they are a very talented team. Under Yost they never could...

Does Bud Selig hate the Brewers?

Is Bud Selig bitter that his family had to sell "his" team and does he secretly hope that the new owners fail? Otherwise how do you explain him essentially giving the Cubs two home games by forcing Houston to play them at Miller Park (Wrigley North). Although the Brewers seem hellbent at the...

    Old Packer Highlights?

Where can I find video's of old (1960's and earlier) Packer highlights. I spent a little while on YouTube last night and found lots of stuff on Favre and the Holmgren Packers, but hardly anything on the Lombardi teams. That surprised me. I would think that in this day and age where everything is...

    Names for Bismarck Brew Club

Bismarck Brew Club? Sorry, I couldn't resist either.

    How does Craigslist work?

I've got a couple of things here to sell that are too big to ship, so ebay is probably not a good idea. I've never used Craigslist, but I see that we have it here (Milwaukee). What's the procedure with it? Do I need to set up an account? Do I have to pay to sell there? How do most buyers pay...

    Brake job question

I had my rear brakes fixed today. They lasted 103,000 miles, which isn't too bad at all I guess. When I picked up my vehicle, I noticed that the shop had replaced the rotors. I've often wondered about that. It seems as though for as long as I've been driving cars any time I need my brakes done...

Why are mountain bikes so popular?

Does anyone remember the bikes that we called "English racers?" This would have been back before the first bicycle craze hit the U.S. (1973, maybe?), when almost anyone who owned a bike had a heavy steel Schwinn or Huffy, with one speed and a coaster brake. If you really wanted to be...

Why are mountain bikes so popular?

I think there really is something to the "safer" thing. (Although I don't know just how safe those big trucks are in the hands of so many people who not onl don't know how to handle them, but think they are invincible in them. I have an SUV. Not a 4X4, and not a terrible gas guzzler. I have it...

Why are mountain bikes so popular?

I just read an article in the paper where it says that a local college is giving away a free bicycle to any student who pledges not to bring a car to school. I looked at the picture of the free bikes and they are brand new Trek mountain bikes. My first question was "why mountain bikes?" Last...

How hard is it to make bad beer?

Way back when, when I brewed my first batch of extract beer I was impressed. Why? Because it was beer. Very drinkable, too, if I might add. Since then, I have had good batches, and not so good ones. Only one dumper. (For some reason it just didn't fully ferment and it went bad). In general...

How bad does linux suck? (Poll)

That's an excellent analogy, but it also illustrates a problem. Taking your analogy a step further, if I want to "turn the key and go" in my car or truck, I have a myriad of choices of brands, models, body styles, colors, options. If the motor vehicle world were like computers I would only have...

How bad does linux suck? (Poll)

Well, I'm anything but a computer geek. At work I just want my computer to do its job. At home, though, I am kind of interested in computers, but again, there is a very low limit to my geekiness. If you just want your computer to work and you're not interested in how it works, or doing much of...

How bad does linux suck? (Poll)

I'd be using Kubuntu right now on my computer here at work, but I couldn't for the life of me get my Palm Pilot to sync with KPilot. The only other real problem I had is that I couldn't for the life of me ever successfully burn an installation disc. I downloaded and installed several different...

    Do beer drinkers eat sushi?

Actually, my real question is, have any of you ever made your own sushi? I wonder if it is at all worthwhile to do. By the time you buy all the ingredients, especially the sushi-quality seafood, I wonder if a person would just be better off just going out to a restaurant to get it.

Computer woes, cont.- now what have I done?

I don't know. I've never seen that before either. Since I seem to be jinxed when it comes to computers, maybe that's just a symptom of my problems. :)

Computer woes, cont.- now what have I done?

Will this ever end? As I have discussed in a couple of recent threads, I had an "issue" involving my computer here at work. Some malware attacked and rendered Windows unbootable. I decided to get a new hard drive and install XP on it. I did that with no problems and got most of my system back...

    Rotisserie chicken, circa 1967

Wow, that's awesome. That's the exact same kind of grill I'm talking about. The only thing is, most of my family members, as I recall, tended to be a bit chubbier than that, and tended to be holding a manhattan in pictures like that. :)

    Cable tv on a PC

SWMBO has been doing this for years and is very happy with it. She has a desktop with Windows XP Media Edition on it and a TV tuner card. It's pretty cool, actually. Works pretty much like TIVO. If you can find XP Media Edition, I'd recommend it.

    Computer woes- yech!

Ok, here's the plan, then. I have a brand new hard drive and an XP cd. I'm going to put the new HD in the computer and install Windows on it. Then I'll put the old HD in a enclosure and scan it on another computer. After that, try to figure out how to manually get as much of my non-backed-up...
