"Saying it in your outside voice" Tips for new members/venting and/or entertainment for regular HBTers

That is f‘kin awesome! 😎 You prove that you can make it work with just about anything. If it weren’t for that mentality, there’s no telling where we’d be. That’s how they did it back in the day.. made it work! As far as the floor, you shouldn’t have said anything.. at first glance I thought...

I know brother.. and you’re one of the reasons I love this place! You keep it real!! And that’s the exact thought I have when I read some posts. I’m not looking to win any awards other than amazing my taste buds! 😎🍺

"Saying it in your outside voice" Tips for new members/venting and/or entertainment for regular HBTers

Accepted! When the day comes that I have my first failed batch (and I’m sure it’ll be soon), I give @bracconiere my word that I’ll drink enough of it and come on here and make an ass of myself! Hell, I‘m good at that! 🤣 The way I look at it, if I screw up a batch.. that means I‘m working at...

"Saying it in your outside voice" Tips for new members/venting and/or entertainment for regular HBTers

Ok.. it wasn’t $50K worth, and I didn’t post a TON of pics! And, I know this won’t be popular… but I HATE reading books! If I sit still long enough to read a book, I’ll fall asleep. Unfortunately, it’s just not in my nature. It’s obvious that this is a rare trait in this hobby though, because...

Well, I did it.. I screwed up

Well, it’s definitely coming along. Pulled a sample today, has good color and smells wonderful (hints of fruit and bread). 😎 It’s very similar to what I normally see at this point. Only difference really is in the numbers. It started out with an OG of 1.059, which is about 0.008 higher than what...

Well, I did it.. I screwed up

This discussion has had me thinking/researching quite a bit. I've come to realize I have a LOT of studying up to do when it comes to yeast! I thought it was a much simpler subject than what I've found over the last day or so!

Well, I did it.. I screwed up

No, no.. lol, I pitched 2 sleeves due to the size of the batch. When I order them, I usually order in pairs and store them together. These 2 packs were actually intended for a brown ale that I’ve been mulling over for the last few months. I decided I’m going a different direction with it, going...

Well, I did it.. I screwed up

Appreciate the replies! After looking at the data on White Labs site, I bumped to temp on the controller up to 70F. They're showing 68-73F for WLP001.

Well, I did it.. I screwed up

Brewed my 7th batch on Saturday, a California Common. This was my 4th brew of this recipe, it’s the beer I drink the most so it goes quick. When it came time to heat the sparge water, I do as usual and grabbed the yeast out of the fridge to warm it up too (liquid yeast). As I’m digging through...

The unoficially official new beer style "Lawnmower beers" thread!

I was thinking the same thing when I first read his post.. figured he must of been doing a lot of mowing today! 🤣

How often and at what volume is everyone brewing?

I'm still somewhat a newb, been brewing just over 5 months now. In that time frame, I've brewed around 70 gals. First 2 batches were 6 gals each, realized pretty quickly that wasn't going to cut it. Everything after has been 12 gals (5 batches). I was doing double batches to get 12 gals which...

Sold NEW GF Glycol Chiller, 110V - Arlington, VA

@BlackScienceBrewing is new to the forum, but from my experience, he's a reputable seller. I recently bought a used Grainfather G40 from him. He packed it in the original box and had it shipped in less than 24 hours.

Just doughed in.. new Grainfather G40 😎

The lower screen/hop filter work great too, and it’s got a stronger pump. Not much wort left after the transfer. 🍺
