    steeping grains in the snow...

indeed all, it is extract. and i like the 'equipment' quip! nice! you know how we do it in cali... i'm just using a converted keg as my brew vessel on what i believe is a bayou classic sp-14 burner. nothing fancy; wort is just going to get dumped into the 6.5 gal. carboid for primary and...

    beer loss to hops

been brewing a few beers that utilized a bunch of hops the latest of which is a sculpin clone (7 or 8 types i think). my issue is that i'm losing a ton of beer to the hops, especially with this brew. how to fix? do i need to make a bigger batch and just increase ingredients? or is there...

    sculpin clone and dryhopping concern

thank you. the primary carboid is already at the warmest place in my house and it's at 65 degrees. i'm thinking about throwing an electric blanket on it for the remainder of fermentation at low temp but have never heard of anybody doing this. good idea or bad?

    sculpin clone and dryhopping concern

right now i'm at about 65 degrees and i've got the primary carboid wrapped in a blanket. i could probably put an electric blanket on it to bring the temp up a bit, but i guess the main point here is pretty much to wait? this is my first time doing a secondary. i usually leave the beer in...

    Steam beer/missed OG

hey guys, first post here and hope i'm doing it in the right forum. i've done a few rounds now and things have turned out alright. however, on this last batch, i made a steam beer that, when running it through beersmith i should have had an OG of about 1.071. i ended up with 1.047...
