I don't want to buy a mash tun that is premade because it is crazy expensive as opposed to the diy approach. I can get the cooler at target for ~$45, and the rest of the supplies for it...

    I think that those are the first grains he has bought? We just went out to dinner the other night and while I was trying to non-chalantly fish around he had mentioned that he wants to try whole grains but that it can be more complicated, I believe, and scares him.
