    First partial mash question

    I've brewed 7 extract kits since November and have had good success. Now it's time to move on to partial mash kits en route to eventually doing AG brews. Looking over the instructions for the Red Ale I just ordered, brought up a question. Mash water + sparge water = 2.5 gallons, instructions...

    Best way to prep bottles?

    I delable/wash in PBW, dry and put away. When I get a full batch, I fill up the dish washer and run on sanitize mode, using no soap. On bottling day I fill each bottle with Star san for a minute or two, drain and fill with beer. Maybe overkill but better safe than sorry.

    Thanks Scoundrel. I took the readings with a sanitized hydrometer in the primary bucket but have not tasted it.

    Originally boiled 9.6 lbs extract, 1 lb candi sugar and 8 oz of maltodextrin. So add a little more sugar and yeast to the secondary and stir it up? Any thing I need to be aware of if I do this, any side effects or potential issues?

    That's what I was afraid of and I'm embarrassed to say I'm not sure on the yeast, what ever comes in the BB kit.
