Group grain buy for Bucks - Montco - Philly area

Hey guys! a friend of mine has opened a LHBS (in New York), and has offered a bulk grain buy that can be drop shipped out this way that he facilitates through his supplier. we would have to fill the order in pallet increments (of whatever grains we want of course) to get the best rates on...

Citra APA can I get rid of cat?

I just got a few ounces of Citra myself, and I was super excited to brew with them. made a basic IPA with Columbus bittering, Citra at 15 and 7 minutes, and a dash of Cascade at 10 (what I thought I needed to balance out all the tropical fruit). also dry hopped with Citra and another dash of...

my 1st true Belgian ale, critiques welcome

brewed this past Saturday, and I ended up bumping the Munich to a half pound (I'm working through a sack of it, so if I just get gravity points from it that's no biggie.), and omitted the spicing just to see what exactly the yeast flavor profile is like. the more I thought about it, the better...

need help with a Belgian yeast selection!

I did end up using the 3787, and despite using Fermcap, there was nearly a gallon's worth of krausen formed within 36 hours! fortunately, I only did a 3 gallon test batch, so there was plenty of room for the yeast to go batshizzle crazy

need help with a Belgian yeast selection!

the "lighter fruit" is definitely what I am after here. I asked my wife again what she wants the beer to taste like...and here's what I got: "Yummy." :drunk: this is what I gotta deal with!

my 1st true Belgian ale, critiques welcome

my wife wants me to try to make a La Fin du Monde-esque tripel, so I am going to do a small batch ale to build up the yeast (much tastier than a starter!) so after LOTS of searching and reading, I decided that Wyeast 3787 was going to be the best option for me since the Unibroue yeast currently...

need help with a Belgian yeast selection!

I had ~just~ stumbled across that chart a few minutes ago actually! I am looking for something "La Fin du Monde"-ish. so light(er) bright(er) fruit with that honey-like sweetness that La Fin finishes with. once you said it, it dawned on me that you are 100% right Randy: "fruity" is actually...

need help with a Belgian yeast selection!

that's cool, whats types of fruit and spicy notes are you getting? like more citrusy, or banana-y, or dark fruit like plum/raisin? what does the 3787 bring to the table ester/phenol-wise? can you recall what the wit you tasted was like on your palate? my trouble with the "search" has been...

need help with a Belgian yeast selection!

hey guys, every once in a blue moon, my wife goes on a beer kick...so I wanted to try to indulge her by brewing up a small batch of wit, and then take that yeast cake and throw a tripel on top of it. she LOVES La Fin du Monde (so she is more into the sweet-fruity than spicy phenolic), so...

    Apollo for dry hops?

I kegged my IPA after a 4 day dry hop (in a sack) where I used a half oz each of the Apollo and Cascade (3 gallon batch), and pulled a small sample last night after all of 2 days :D it was a really sweet citrusy dank blend of flavor and aroma. I'm gonna have to pull another few ounces tonight...

    Apollo for dry hops?

did you end up dry hopping with the apollo? I have an ipa with apollo and cascade, and I am going to dry hop tonight with both, so I was a little curious as to what I could expect. when I popped the lid on my bucket to take a gravity reading, I was hit with a warm dank wave of aroma...had to...
