    Kids and Brewing...

I used to help out my dad with brewing when I was like 4 or 5 and loved it.

Should I pick up this old keggerator???

If it doesn't work, I'll buy the drain tray for a few bucks. ;)

Looking to make kegerator from mini refrigerator

Pretty much no fridges can have the freezer removed. The freezer is what cools the whole thing down. I had to go with a wine cooler, rather than a couple mini fridges that I have laying around. Only problem is my cooler only cools to 40* and for some reason my beer only gets to 48ish

What are some of the mistakes you made...where your beer still turned out great!

This past batch I was aerating and my carefully cleaned and sanitized whisk suddenly came apart and sank. I was left holding the handle, which I saw was rusted on the inside, so I freaked and shoved my arm into it to grab the other piece of the whisk. We'll see how it turns out. :p When I racked...

    Water for home brew

From eastern WA also and never boiled or filtered. Never really thought about killing the bacteria first. And I would never use bottled water. Its quite frankly bs. Its city water, ran through a filter(if any), bottled, labeled, and price cranked up.

    Portability of Corny kegs

I wish I had a 3 gallon keg for things like that. They're so much more expensive though. :(

    Kegerator temp question

So my kegerator is using a wine cooler. The temp can only go down to 40*. I've had it set at 40* for the past few days and the coldest I draw out of the tap is 49*. Is this too warm for a kegerator? I haven't tried drinking it at that temp since one keg is a stout that hasn't ageed to my liking...

    Who's brewing?

Still have a beer in the secondary. I want to make another beer, but I only have 2 kegs.

Anyone have any spare Beer Bottle caps?

*shrugs* Last time I checked, you don't need to be 21 to buy bottle caps.

Sent my money for 2! I'm excited. I'm so tired of sticking taps.

Carbonation can make or break your beer!

That might be the reason for my stout not tasting very well. I'm not experienced with kegging to really know how to figure out what I should pressurize my beer at.

    Chocolate Cherry Hootie Dog Stout

Still letting it age. I tried it last night and its not very good yet. But I am very critical about my brews.

    Northern Idaho Shops/Breweries

Hmm, interesting. I haven't bought much beer from him, just ingredients. I like the one on Indian Trail. Rocket Bakery I've never had beer at, I was turned off by them when they repeatedly gave me bad coffee and old bakery items. The Viking, though, I love! Decent price for a pint, and lots...

    Northern Idaho Shops/Breweries

Jims is still around. However I wouldn't recommend going there just for beer. They have some hard to find beers, but many of them can be found around. Jim's, while I love them, cranks up the price for all of their bottles. Bottles, located in Millwood next to the Rocket Bakery, is good. I...

    My new kegerator

    Nice, thanks. I didn't see that. :)

    My new kegerator

For graduation and my birthday I got a kegerator kit, which I have been trying to budget in for a while now. I had a counterhigh mini fridge that I wanted to use it with and I thought it would fit. Once I got the kit, I tried putting the kegs in and they wouldn't fit at all. So I started...

    It's official, I'm an idiot

This last batch was my worst, and the first time I did it alone too. Forgot to add the malt till I was almost done. I had carapils and never used them before. Well the recipe never said to steep them. I thought I was supposed to add them at the end so I poured them in, then reread the recipe...

    Chocolate Cherry Hootie Dog Stout

I just got my ingredients in today and I'll be brewing this on Saturday. Just to be sure, Dextrine is also called Carapils(Austin Homebrew Supply), correct? Or did I screw that up?

    Chocolate Cherry Hootie Dog Stout

Are you using chocolate milk mix? Or actual 100% cocoa?
