    3 Hours for yeast

I prepared my wort and beer and was to the point of pitching the yeast when I realized I hadn't broken the package yet and it needs to set for 3 hours. Is it okay to have the beer cooling in my large pot for 3 hours, and then re-heating it to 70 degrees around 3 hours and adding the yeast?

    Carboy splitting

Okay. I haven't started the brew yet. So after I do the initial steps of starting the brew I'll just split what's in my large brew pot into two glass carboys for the entire fermentation and should be fine, correct?

    Carboy splitting

Will it mess up a brew if I split between two glass carboys? I have the beginner bucket which I used once and it worked (maybe 6 gallons?) But last time I used a glass carboy that was 5 gallons and it erupted. Will it mess up the fermentation if I split 1 brew between two glass carboys?

    Ferementing time

Can you ferment in original carboy for too long? Tomorrow will be five weeks.

    Hydrometer Question

My beer has been fermenting for 15 days, would I be risking anything if I skipped the hydrometer reading and just bottled tomorrow instead of checking it and waiting 3 days?

    Hydrometer Question

I haven't used my hydrometer in about 11 months and can't remember if this is what it looked like when I stored it. I read that people go through them quite often so I wanted you guys to take a look and make sure it seems ok to use and won't infect my brew. The line at the bottom is green, when...

    Did some steps wrong

Ok thank god haha. When can I bottle? Tonight? One has been fermenting for 14 days and the other for 13.

    Did some steps wrong

I'm brewing a Belgian Blond and an Irish Red Ale at the same time. They've been fermenting for two weeks. I don't know what I was thinking, but read my directions wrong and added the priming sugar while preparing the wort, and am now just realizing it. I did it for both brews. Does that mean...

    Carboy Problem Bubbles (picture)

I used iodophor with water to cover the bottom of the bucket and tube. Do I need to switch out the sanitizer at any point or the one time will suffice.

    Carboy Problem Bubbles (picture)

If I were to do another 5 gallon brew in the same size carboy could I also run a tube from that carboy into the same runoff bucket since I'm discarding everything in there anyway? Also will the runoff bucket attract gnats or anything, what can I do to prevent anything funky happening with the...

    Carboy Problem Bubbles (picture)

Ok so this is what it looks like. Should I put a lid on the bucket? My first brew was in a 6.5 gallon bucket with a 5 gallon recipe, but this time I used a 5 gallon carboy forgetting about needing the room. So I guess I'm going to keep it with the tube and bucket for the two weeks of...

    Carboy Problem Bubbles (picture)

Great, I have a tube running into a runoff bucket. I will re sanitize the stopper when the foaming finishes. I am wondering if I can go to bed and redo the stopper and discard the hose and runoff bucket in the morning or if I should wait until the foaming stops and do the stopper before going to...

    Carboy Problem Bubbles (picture)

Okay, that seems to be what i'm finding is the solution. What do I do with the blow off container? Do I keep and somehow reuse whats going into it or just discard it? Also when do I stop the blow off hose and go back to the normal stopper, if i do at all.

    Carboy Problem Bubbles (picture)

This is my second brew ever in a year, 1st in a carboy. I did all the steps and started the fermentation today. When I came home after about 5 hours it looked like this. Is there anything I can do to salvage it? Is this normal, what did I do wrong?

    Racking equipment question

I'm preparing to sanitize and rack from my fermenter to my bottling bucket, but was wondering what the left piece of equipment is used for in the picture. My racking cane and siphon are together in the auto-siphon and I have tubing. I tried looking up some videos but can't see exactly what I...

    Getting my bottles ready

Will just a few drips of the iodphor in each bottle work along with filling the bottle completely full with water at the same time to get the solution throughout?

    Getting my bottles ready

I am bottling tonight and wanted to make sure I'm not going to get anything infected. I ran the bottles under 120 degree water from my faucet, they're soaking now, and plan on running them through the dishwasher soon. Is that enough? Or should I rotate the bottles in a sink filled with...

    Infected?

Thanks a lot that really helps, so glad I didn't refrigerate

    Infected?

Tomorrow will be two weeks. It's a hefe. As per another thread I was in, I am looking for three days at 1.014 after about 12 - Yesterday my temp was 73 and hydrometer @ 1.0144 - today was 72 and hydrometer at 1.013 If all goes as planned I will be bottling tomorrow. How long do you tend to keep...
