    1st BIAB completed

The May/June edition of Brew Your Own was dedicated to BIAB. After reading that, I'm more convinced than ever that not only is the BIAB method on the quality level of the standard three tier system, but surpasses the three tier in several ways.

    Snapshot clone

Oh, the recipe is just one I found online. I'm going the final product is close. If not, I may try your suggestion and see how it goes.

    Snapshot clone

Moved it to secondary yesterday. Took a reading at 1.018, with a target of FG of 1.015. Hate having to rush this to be drank on the 29th, but the plan will be to just keg half and bottle the rest. I tasted the sample I pulled out for the gravity reading and it seemed like it was maybe a bit more...

    Snapshot clone

Well, it was a very rainy day, but I got it all brewed up on Monday after work. Not alot of pictures due to the rain, but I thought it turned out really well. The recipe I had posted had the GoP and Coriander amounts backwards, so I swapped those around. I ended up using WLP051 yeast. It was...

    Snapshot clone

So, my stepson is turning 21 on the 26th, and he just asked me today if I could brew up a batch of New Belgium's Snapshot for him for his birthday weekend. So yeah, very short notice. I'll be hitting up the LHBS on Monday during lunch and brewing up my best attempt right after I get off work on...

    My 1st BIAB brewday!

They have a Founders Breakfast Stout kit that I really want to try.

    My 1st BIAB brewday!

I ordered online (I'm in MS). I found them when I was looking for a DFH 90 min extract clone. That kit turned out really good so this was the second kit (first AG) I've ordered from them. They have several recipes that sounds really good that I'm trying to narrow down my choices. What kits of...

    My 1st BIAB brewday!

I thought that was pretty high (it's very well possible I didn't do that calculator correctly). I used this one here: http://www.brewersfriend.com/brewhouse-efficiency/ And here's the kit I used: http://www.boomchugalug.com/downloadables/recipes/flat_tire_all_grain.pdf

    My 1st BIAB brewday!

Thanks Wilser. I will skip mash out next time. Gotta say I was really impressed by how high of a quality your bag is.

    My 1st BIAB brewday!

I have been brewing beer for years using extract. I had never done AG before, except at one of my buddy's house because he has a 3 tier system. I had avoiding AG because my wife would kill me if I purchased any additional pots. So, with that said, I finally decided to give BIAB a shot. Note...

    1st BIAB this weekend

Thanks everyone. So, if I do 1.75 gals for my sparge, I'm looking at 6.94 gallons as my mash with grains. So, that should give me enough room to stir and everything. I think I was "over thinking" things. I'll be sure to post pics and my notes after Saturday.

    1st BIAB this weekend

I will be doing my 1st BIAB this weekend, after having done extracts for years. I have finished building by BIAB stand and got in my Wilser bag last week. I was taking a look at the Priceless calculator, and I'm having a bit of a problem really understanding it so I figured I'd just ask. :)...

    My First BIAB Stand Build

I just started a different job, so I'm gonna be pretty busy with that, so it'll be a couple weeks before I can build the lift for it. But, I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel on it. :)

    My First BIAB Stand Build

Made some more progress. Got the shelves put together, covered in metal sheeting. Had an issue mis-measuring a shelf and the metal sheet doesn't look so great, so probably will redo that. Hopefully this image will display correctly:

    My First BIAB Stand Build

It is actually a pretty easy project. Got all of the welding done in one day. May add a few brackets just to make sure I don't end up with hot wort all over me, but that's just me being overly cautious. :) Plans are very easy to follow.

    My First BIAB Stand Build

I did get to weld it together and add a coat of grill paint. I need to add my shelves and wheels next, but it's coming along.

    My First BIAB Stand Build

I used a sawzall and a grinder, and got all but two cuts done. I ran out of material. I managed to scavenge all of my bed rails so far, just gotta find enough to do two more pieces for the bottom, and then I can start putting it together:

I'm going to start on my Series 2 build this weekend. :)

    Replacement for yeast beakers?

The foil doesn't create an airtight seal. If it did, then you'd see the foil try to expand and eventually rip/split. It's not at all like an airlock which would prevent anything from getting in.
