    Clogged dip tube

Hi everyone, I have a situation with one of my kegs. The dip tube is clogged because I was stupid when I kegged my beer and dry hopped in the keg and did not put the hops in a bag or anything, just dumped me right in. I was quite buzzed at the time so that definitely contributed to my...

    Saison Cottage House Saison

I have a question for you azscoob. Have you ever used 3724 with this recipe? I've read that it has a problem with attenuating and I'm wondering if I should remove it from the fermentation chamber and just leave the 3711 at 68 for the first couple weeks. The 3724 would be at room temp which is...

    Saison Cottage House Saison

I brewed 10 gallons of this yesterday. Ended up using two different yeast strains, 3711 and 3724, that's all that the brew store had and I didn't get around to making a starter. Hit all of my numbers and now it's fermenting away in my new fermentation chamber at 68. Interested to see the...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

I was in Bend, OR a couple weeks ago checking out the local breweries. We went to Worthy Brewing, and I asked our waiter about the SMASH beer that they had on the beer list. He said, "it's a great beer, they use Maris Otter hops with it." I was with a friend who is also a homebrewer and we...

Recipe Feedback - Widmer Citra Blonde Clone Attempt

That looks great jwalker! My 2nd keg is currently conditioning. Next time I think I'll go with pale malt instead of 2-row...for some reason when I read pale malt on the Widmer website I was thinking they meant 2-row pale malt! Oh well, still turned out to be a great beer! Cheers!

Recipe Feedback - Widmer Citra Blonde Clone Attempt

Well, I polished off the keg last night! It didn't last long...granted I had some help along the way from some friends. Went ahead and kegged the other 5 gallons. Please post on this thread if you decide to brew this and tell me how it turned out. Cheers! :mug:

Star San reuse word of warning

I just used distilled water, which is 88 cents a gallon at the local supermarket, and a spray bottle. I spray everything down with star san and that works pretty well for me. I've had the same 32 oz star san bottle for the last 4 years and it still has plenty left in it.

Recipe Feedback - Widmer Citra Blonde Clone Attempt

This beer turned out great! I did a side-by-side comparison and I'd venture to say I got pretty close, but I think mine had a bit more hoppy flavor. So I may have used too much Citra for the dry hop, but that will subside with time. I've shared this beer with quite a few people and everyone...

When the Apples are Ripe, Ferment Some Cider!

@Irreo I've been to Astigarraga! When I went to the Basque Country, I was with a Basque dancing group from Boise called Oinkari Dantza Taldea. We were invited by the Onatz Dantza Taldea, and were able to travel through quite a bit of the Basque Country. We spent one evening at a Sagardotegia...

When the Apples are Ripe, Ferment Some Cider!

@Irreo Cool to run in to someone on here from the Basque Country. I live in Idaho and I'm half Basque (my mother is full and my dad isn't Basque at all) and we have family in Lekeitio and Bilbao. I've been there to visit once and we went to a sagardotegia that was awesome! I love the Basque...

I've brewed this once before and it was amazing. I think I went through a 5 gallon keg quicker than any other beer with this one. I'm brewing 10 gallons of it this Sunday...sure glad I have about a pound and a half of summit in the freezer! Thanks Biermuncher, I love your recipes man!

Recipe Feedback - Widmer Citra Blonde Clone Attempt

I force carbed this yesterday and I think I got pretty close! It still needs to condition a bit more, but we'll see here in a couple weeks. Also, I only kegged 5 gallons of it...the other 5 are still in a carboy and have not been dry hopped yet. I'm considering trying a different dry hop...

Recipe Feedback - Widmer Citra Blonde Clone Attempt

I used 2 row pale malt and ended using 15l because that's all my lhbs had. Thank you for pointing out the blend with the alchemy hops...I thought I read that it was a mix of millennium and warrior...guess not. I kegged this yesterday and will report back with results. Sent from my iPhone...

Recipe Feedback - Widmer Citra Blonde Clone Attempt

I'm trying to clone Widmer's Citra Blonde Summer Ale for the SWMBO. This will be my first attempt at creating my own clone recipe and I used beersmith to help me. I went to Widmers website and it says they use 2-row and Caramel 10L for the grist and Alchemy hops (which from what i read is a...

    Jalapeno Pineapple Beer

From an earlier post on page 2 in this thread: The Jalapeno puree is made by roasting jalapenos in the oven at ~250 and then blending them up with a small amount of water and then put the blend through a strainer. For a 5.5 gallon batch I'd recommend using 6 to 7 jalapenos (the 8.00 oz on the...
