How large of a BK do you need for 5 gallon BIAB?

I use a 13.5 gal keggle and line a turkey straining basket with my bag. I made feet for the basket out of 1.5" ss bolts, it keeps the top of the basket just above the wort level with 12lbs of grain and 9 gal of water.

    Poor effiency, read this!!

Keg mash tun with false bottom, awesome! It is basically BIAB on steroids! Dammit now I just spent more money on a false bottom!

    Poor effiency, read this!!

You haters are hilarious! If you get such good effiency, why did you bother to read this post? I use both methods, Biab for 5 gal batches and mash tun for 10 gal. I consistently get 75-85% with Biab with no wasted wort, and 65-80% with the cooler, and waste 1-2gal in the deadspace. I came up...

    Poor effiency, read this!!

Use that stupid cooler for what it is meant for, keeping your beer cold. Do BIAB and never worry about your crush, temp, sparge, how open your valve is, or how fast your draining. Every day there is 10 new posts about poor efficiency and they cant figure out why, but none of those posts are...

Partial Mash - How much water?

You have a 9 gal kettle, why do a partial mash?

    Coopers kit

Try the brew Canada kits if they are available. I find the quality to be better, they actually have pieces of hops in the can.

    Right strainer for BIAB

Why? What does this benefit? The bag I use is much smaller than my pot and I have no efficiency problems. That's like saying the stainless weave in a mash tun has to be 20 feet long not only 12 inches, like 99% of them are!

Simple recipe, what do you think?

Done and fermenting, started fermentation in 3 hrs on yeast cake. Boiled 5.75 gal down to 4.75 ended up with an og of 1.046.

    Right strainer for BIAB

Why not? I use a bag like that for full water, it lines a turkey strainer inside of my 13gal keggle.

Partial boil on a 10 gal IPA

Why not just boil the extra wort in another pot at the same time?

    2nd BIAB low efficiency

With that much grain you would want to stir quite often during the mash to evenly disperse the mash, that helps a lot, Try even lifting bag out for a second, stirring mash and then put bag back in.

    Brew in a bag

http://beerreviewdude.com/biab-calculator/ this is the best calculator I have found. I don' t sparge anymore, due to my efficiency being too high, just mashout at 170 for 10 mins.

    BIAB Noob Questions

Are you sterilizing the bag you are pouring the bag through?

    BIAB Noob Questions

    1. Use this beerreviewdude.com/biab-calculator/ 2. Sock isn't necessary, hops either sink or float eventually.

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Just did this as a 5gal BIAB. 6lbs 2 row, 2.5lbs, flaked maize, 1lbs minute rice. Mashed in with 8gal at 154 for 70min raised heat to 170 for mashout, squeezed. I was left with 7.5gal boiled hard for 90min, 6gal left in keggle. Cooled to 68 with my chiller and whirlpooled which didn't work...

Converting to AG, need some ideas...

My turkey pot is about 29.99 quarts. I have two. When I do 5 gallon brews, 3.5 gal at 152 in first pot and 4 gal at 165 in the second. I'm left with 30 quarts after squeezing grains, to much wort for one pot. I put about 25 quarts in one pot and 5 in the other and start boiling both, after 20...
