    Thinking of bulding electric keggle??

I have been doing 5-10 gallon BIAB now for a couple years now with great success! Now its winter here in Ontario and it's freezing out so I want to bring the brewing inside. I have a 13.5 Euro keggle that i have been using, I want to add a 240v element to it so I can stay inside, like this...

    BIAB Questios

Just use a food safe bucket. When I was using my turkey fryer for 5 Gallon recipes I just used as much mash water as I could fit in the pot with the grains. Then after the boil I would top up in the fermenter with water, only time I had low eff was when the grain had a poor crush.

11 Gallon BIAB in a 13.5 Gallon Keggle!

This worked out at 85%, that's as high as I want it to go! It wasn't hot water it was boiling water to replace what has already been boiled off, since there is only so much room in the kettle.

11 Gallon BIAB in a 13.5 Gallon Keggle!

The voile is a very tight weave, I used a thick polyester thread. I set the sewing machine to the tightest stitch and made two rows ow stitching. If you double over the material at the seam before sewing it would be even stronger! Maybe the problem with your material is the color, LOL!

Forgot to put water in air lock! Doh!!!

The biggest concern you should have is not the airlock, it's that you haven't started that second batch yet! It doesn't tend to last very long around here.

11 Gallon BIAB in a 13.5 Gallon Keggle!

I wanted to try a 10 Gallon BIAB but I only have a 13.5gallon Keggle, problem! I figured it was going to be a PITA but I'd give it a shot. I used this recipe, https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f66/centennial-blonde-simple-4-all-grain-5-10-gall-42841/ And this is the way I did it. I added 11 gallons...

BIAB mash temp difference from top to bottom of kettle

What are you using for a pot? I never had a problem with my aluminum turkey pot but my ss keggle a couple times I added my grains 152 came back 5 mins later 162 shiet, get the ice! Stirring a couple of degrees before your strike temp is the best solution, but have some ice on hand just in case.

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

I used the us-05 and the nottingham both and preferred the nottingham because with my ac on right now it's 65 in my basement. The nottingham seems more crisp than the us-05 which seems to have more of a sweet floral flavor.
