    Quick and dirty hydrometer sanitization?

I do the starsan and spray bottle you mentioned, but it's not that much work. I make a gallon at a time with distilled water, fill up a Home Depot squirt bottle, and keep it around. No need to dump it since I used distilled water. So it's always available to sanitize hydrometers, autosiphon, etc.

Thinking bout converting old hot tub into MLT,any thoughts

Wow, this is very well thought out. Just malt that barley and this setup should work just fine :ban:. When is the grand opening? Have you thought of names for your brewpub?

Thinking bout converting old hot tub into MLT,any thoughts

Don't use Dawn, it will be almost impossible to get all of the soap residue off, and will throw off the flavors of your beer. Just leave the oil residue there. Everyone knows that water and oil are immiscible, so there is no way the residue could affect the final product. Wait, was it regular...

    Glissade Clone time!

Thanks fezzman, will do. Speaking of using an ale yeast, in putting this recipe together I couldn't help but notice how close Helles Bocks are to American Pale Ales. If this recipe works out, I'd like to make a 10gal batch, split it in two, and make one into an ale and one into a bock.

    Keg Conditioning

Since you're conditioning for so long in the keg anyway, why don't you just prime with sugar and forget it? 1-2 months is plenty of time to carbonate, and you avoid all of the fiddling. I've force carbonated by the two methods: the high-pressure accelerated way and the serving pressure...

    Poll Time! - Temperature Controller?

Does it have a working internal thermostat? Check the range of the thermostat first, and see if it includes your serving temp. If it does, just adjust the temp the old school analog way. I have a temp control on my kegerator, but only because it doubles as a fermentation chamber. I can...

    Glissade Clone time!

Bump for help/advice/comments on my first bock recipe design and my first lager I'd love to hear from those with experience, to see if I'm missing something glaring, or if there are any tidbits that can help make this batch awesome! Thanks! :mug:

    Glissade Clone time!

Hi all, I have been working on this recipe and waiting for the right time to brew for a while now. This is a) my own recipe from reading a lot of bock recipes (and from what's on the SN website) and b) my first lager attempt. Here's what I'm looking at for a recipe. Please let me know your...

    Oxiclean Residue

I usually soak my bottles for less than 48 hours and have never had a problem, but like others had a batch that I had to let soak for 2 weeks and noticed residue on my bottles last night. I assume that the residue isn't leftover oxyclean, but magnesium and calcium hydroxide, which...
