I bottled my Pilsner last night

imrook, I was concerned about that too. I didn't do the gravity measurements, so it's definitely possible that it's still fermenting (though my internal alcholometer said that this was fairly potent). The kit recommends 15 days I think, and it was in there for 32, but I know that's not a...

I bottled my Pilsner last night

Finally bottled the Pilsner last night (Festa Brew kit). I ended up not having enough clean bottles, so I had a few glasses of it to drink. Certainly it will be better when it has carbonated and left to mature a bit longer, but I'm really excited by the state it is in now. My palette isn't...

Planning my first adjunct adventure, ginger and lemon grass, but many other questions

So I'm bottling this weekend, and I would like to get a new batch started. I'm still using the complete kits, probably I will go with another one from Festa Brew. I'm definitely tempted to try doing it from scratch, but I don't have the equipment or the time right now. Maybe next batch...

For my third beer, a mexican cerveza

So I kept the cerveza in the primary for four weeks, then racked it into a bottling bucket (which is exactly the same as my primary), on top of the sugars, then I bottled it. It was still pretty clear, perhaps a teensy bit cloudier than my first two attempts where I used a secondary, but not...

For my third beer, a mexican cerveza

Ok, so a bottling bucket it is, or if I don't find find one, the carboy. Then next time, perhaps some new yeast!

For my third beer, a mexican cerveza

Yep, I've read the warnings about any exposure to sunlight. :)

For my third beer, a mexican cerveza

Good guess, it is indeed brew house (http://www.thebrewhouse.com)! Are you saying my beer will get better if I use different yeast? That would be an interesting experiment, though too late for this batch. I don't have a bottling bucket. I had been racking into a glass carboy as a secondary...

For my third beer, a mexican cerveza

After much happiness with the red I made last time, I'm going to switch things up a bit. I picked a mexican cerveza, primarily because it was on sale, but also because I wanted to try something a bit lighter. So far, I'm brewing from kits where you just add water and yeast (which comes with...

Is my beer fermenting too cold?

Ok, I was doing it wrong. :) Putting in just enough beer to get the hydrometer to float, I'm reading 0.990. From what I understand, this means it should be safe for bottling.

Is my beer fermenting too cold?

Ok, so I just checked the specific gravity, but I think I'm probably doing it wrong. Is there a certain amount of beer that should be put into the hydrometer? Anyway, I got 1.020, which is the same thing I wrote down 15 days ago, though I recall at the time I was rounding it for some reason...

Is my beer fermenting too cold?

Ok, excellent. I will take a reading tonight and report back. Sounds like there will definitely be some changes to the way I do my next batch. :) Thanks!:mug:

Is my beer fermenting too cold?

This is my second batch, please excuse any misunderstandings. :) So my basement is hovering around 14-17 Celsius this winter, and I've got a Red Ale from a Brew House kit that's been on for 19 days. 5 days in the primary, 14 in the secondary, and according to the instructions, I should rack...
