Lost some pretty major beer today through the blow-off tube..???

Keep an eye on fermentation temps. Was this fermenter slightly warmer ( 2 degrees) than the ones that didn't lose beer? Was the OG bigger than what you have brewed in the past? Different yeast strain? Did you oxygenate this wort more than in the past? All of these components come into play...

    My Sankey Fermenter Build

The Back purge worked fantastic! It was my first time back purging so I practiced a bit on a scrap tube I had kicking around. I was quite surprised myself at how clean it was inside the keg after welding. It still needed some elbow grease and polishing but I got it.. I used a 4.5" grinder...

    My Sankey Fermenter Build

I thought I would make my first contribution to this site as I am new member... So here goes... I liked the Idea of Sabco's fermenter with the 4" tri clamp on the top. I thought this was a great idea because one could reach their whole arm in to clean properly but, I wasn't ready to drop the...

    Saison critique

I'm also in Phoenix, and just finished a Saison. I would keep it in the house at 80, I think 90 in the garage is too hot. I fermented mine at 80 as well and still feel its too estery, Not sure if its the yeast but I used "Wyeast French Saison" Their Belgian Saison yeast says it can...

    Newbie Keg Cleaning Question

I keg using Sankeys and they are quite challenging to clean at first. I have found that CLR is the only thing that works for me. My typical schedule would be OXY clean for 24 hours and then CLR for a day or two. It hasn't let me down yet. Hope this helps
