    sharing my first brew

Did this red ale at the end of May and bottled on June 9th. Had some early ones of course due to impatience but found the best time, or maybe not? Head retention is pretty weak and lacing is minimal but it's tastier than a Rickards Red, which is what I was going for. Happy belated...

Just bottled my first batch (cracked carboy?)

So I spent the afternoon bottling my first batch of beer (irish red ale) and was a success I feel. After I was done all my clean up I noticed what was possibly a crack in the carboy, I honestly didn't even inspect this the first time I used it but maybe it's not a crack but just a defect...

    Backyard fire pit thread.

Oh nice thread! I can't find any pics right now but nothing beats a nice bonfire, whether you're cooking supper or just sitting around having a few drinks with friends. My favorite thing to fry over a bonfire is farmer sausage on a stick with a bit of seasoning salt.

    First Batch

LOL the thread was more just to say hi and the question more so as why would they sell both in the starter kits (saying you need to use both) instead of giving you the option.

    First Batch

hey thanks for the replies everyone and thanks for the tips. Site seems to be full of some good people. :mug: I thought I had mold on my first batch of beer from seeing some pics online but upon closer inspection it is small clusters of bubbles. That is no biggie right?

    First Batch

Just decided lately that I needed a hobby and what better than a hobby I can consume. Especially beer. Anyway I just got my first batch going. It is a red ale done with this festa brew kit. The guy at the store told me I should start with this (also was on sale) but wow it seemed really...
