    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Last couple brews I dropped the immersion chiller in just before I turn the power off and turn the water on as suggested by others. I changed to this because even with 240V it takes quite a bit of time to get a good boil going again. But maybe this wrong?

    Fermzilla All-Rounder with Temp Twister

Thanks for the reply. I just decided to try this out. Sort of as expected the peltier device doesn't have enough capacity. When used as designed in my FastFerment I could reach mid to high 40F. I ran this configuration and only got to 68F. Probably could do better with more insulation on hoses...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Yes, I think there would be no need for the ring using a FB & bag without the pipe.

I know you need another piece of equipment but I think I have converted myself into a false bottom with bag and no pipe. In addition to dunk sparging in a separate cooler.

Saw one on the FB group and there are only two brackets. Don't know if I like that but it must work.

    Fermzilla All-Rounder with Temp Twister

I have a BrewJacket immersion chiller/heater. I really like this system on my FastFerment conical and a carboy. I want to ferment under pressure and pressure transfer so purchased an All-Rounder. Love it so far. Looking for feedback on something I'm thinking of trying. For temperature control I...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I'm in the Chicago area and always brew outside but I think it depends what the outside temperature is. I see some just put the kettle next to an open door or window, brew close to a stove exhaust fan, dedicate an exhaust fan to brewing, and a more expensive route but some use a condenser system...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Just go buy it! Don't know of any changes made since top controller unit was released. As far a sealing, I sealed mine around the black plastic to the kettle and around the display with silicone. I have seen others use DYI ideas including someone using I think it was glad wrap that sticks...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Yeah - takes some time to dial in a new system. I've made 5 brews and take good notes and still trying to dial this mash-in temperature. On the chiller, yes it not the best but probably included for new brewers. I frequent the FB group for the AF and several have had the cheap hose included...

I'm also thinking of going to smaller batches so I can brew more. I have a keezer with four 5-gal cornys. Is there any issues using 5-gal kegs for 2.5 gal brews?

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Looks like a nice brew day! What fermenter are you using? Just curious about your mash-in. I've been brewing many years on a gas fired kettle and use a cooler/tun. I have found on the AF that you only need to set your strike water temp a few degrees above your desired mash-in. I also follow...

    Fermzilla All-Rounder Lid Leak

Thanks - BTW my first fermentation under pressure was a Winter Warmer NB kit. Held pressure perfectly and the beer tasted great. Surprised my favorite part of using this pressure fermenter is that I can now push my beer into the keg while it is already in my keezer (every year the task of...

    Fermzilla All-Rounder Lid Leak

FYI - when I put my first brew in the fermenter the lid leaked again! Think this fixed it - the lid had pretty good ridge left on it from the casting process. I took a utility knife and removed it. Tried the lid on 4 times and no leak. Hopefully problem solved.

I just use a ratcheting pulley but have heard others spread the ring out a bit to make a tighter fit. I also saw someone make DIY clips to hold the ring to the top of the kettle.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

My NB Winter Warmer that I brewed with FB and no pipe on 12/10 went into the keg last night. This was my first try at fermenting under pressure. I purchased a Fermzilla All-Rounder, pressure kit, and spunding valve and was ready to go. Even after one use I highly recommend this fermenter (or...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

It's hard to nail everything down. Don't worry too much about hitting numbers just follow the steps and take good notes. I brew outside and I notice not only on the AF but on my previous gas fired kettles the boil-off varies quite a bit based not only on intensity of boil but also...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I left mine in. Ha - I had no way to pull it out. I do have the eye bolt installed and can probably tie a string to it and fish it out if necessary but do others see a need to remove this?

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Agree - looks wimpy but I have stacked 14 quart Mason jars filled with tomatoes on top of it while canning in the AF.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I also only whirlpool to enhance chilling. I did this previously on my 15 gallon Boilermaker kettle and never found the whirlpooling to help separate the trub from the wort on that kettle either. This reminds me - on my last brew it was a bit chilly outside and while letting my wort settle...
