    So who's brewing this weekend?

Today was a pale ale, OG: 1.052, chinook, cascade and citra. Trying to get those “C” hops to pop. First time using hornindal kveik, so I’m pretty excited to see how it turns out!

How to buy homebrew gear and stay married 🤣

My wife only tolerates my homebrewing, which is sad because we both were into craft beer so much when we met, we honeymooned in Fort Collins CO, drank our way through Denver and went to the GABF 2010. Now she doesn’t drink much, but I’m trying to woo her back to beer. She doesn’t give me much...

Help me make sense of all this 1st time All Grain data

This answers a lingering question I’ve had, as I’m milling for the first time this coming weekend. I thought my mill was defective when only 1 roller turned!

To Get a Hop Spider or Not?

I’ve gone back and forth about getting a hop spider as well to keep sediment going into my carboy. However, I’m more concerned about how well the hops will impart their bittering and aroma to the wort when contained to the basket, rather than fully immersed and mixed.

    Cleaning corny kegs

I just picked up two corny kegs off Craigslist for $35 each, which I thought was a steal. However, the previous owner apparently left some beer in them for what he believed was “a few years”. I opened them up and one just smelled like IPA, but the other had some funk to it, like gym locker...

Need clarification on "No brew before the boil."

I like to get started early, there’s something relaxing about mashing in with my morning cups of joe. The house is quiet, child and wife sleeping, I can enjoy my morning coffee before my wife starts complaining of the heavenly smell of boiling wort. Then I switch to beer.

    Pests

As I’m wait for my rhizomes to show up hopefully this month, and contemplating the best place to plant them the thought of rabbits eating my garden plants came to mind. Can anyone advise if they’ve had difficulties with rabbits eating their plants or other pests to be wary of?

    2021 Rhizomes

I have not, and this will be my first time growing hops. I’ve been a backyard gardner longer than I’ve been brewing so I figured I would try to diversify what I’m planting for some variety.

    2021 Rhizomes

Cascade, Cashmere, Crystal and Golding. Hopefully the grow as well as my tomatoes and cucumbers. It’ll be my first time growing hops.

    Greetings from the midwest!

Hello! I am really excited to find such a wealth of knowledge on homebrewing here. 10-12 years ago I tried doing some extract brewing, but I was always disappointed with my results. I didn't fully understand everything, just the basics. Then a couple months ago I came across all of my brewing...
