What I did for beer today

Installed a water pressure gauge on the water input of the brewstand to help fine tune the boil kettle condenser and installed a new Chugger Mini Max pump. Going to use it on the boil kettle exclusively. Hoping the higher power motor will increase the flow somewhat through the plate chiller, O2...

You were right! Forgive a rather lengthy summation of my findings from this test on this particular Boil Condenser Unit, but hope it helps corroborate findings. Test Environment: Garage, 60 deg ambient, 48 deg groundwater temp, 18 gal. BK, 5500w element, Auberins EZ Boil controller, chugger...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Thanks BrunDog. Gives me a starting point. I'll get out the EZ Boil controller manual and see how to change the duty cycle. May hold off the brew session till next week. Instead, I'll try and change duty cycle, and boil some water for an hour. See what kind of boil off i end up with and it...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Anyone notice performance gains with the TC fitting on the lid as opposed to the side of the kettle? Steam obviously rises is my thought, but id rather not have to mess with a lid with this contraption on it to stir, add hopps, take a nosey look at whats going on etc... Also, the side output...

What I did for beer today

One of my employees at the shop is quite amazed that I made the beers hes been sampling, and even more amazed at how little it costs. Tryin to go thru older equipment I have to see if I can hobble together a fairly complete setup for him to start doing extract batches at least. If he wants to...
