    Pressure Fermentation Device - Homemade

I edited my last post, because I realized I had made an error. For a simple manometer, you cannot have different ID's of your vertical legs. That would create a differential volume, such that 1" of movement in one leg would NOT = 1" of movement in the other leg. Example: 1" ID on entrance tube...

    Keg Score!

Man! You are one lucky dude! I just paid about $180, including shipping, for two Ball Lock Cornys! They're nice, but FREE would have been better! :D

    Pressure Fermentation Device - Homemade

Must have the "M" or "U" shape. Acts like an S trap to prevent water column from flowing back into your fermenter. OR.. put the BOTTOM of your fermenter 27" above the bottom of your 54" tube... Actually that's a great idea... Makes the system simpler. But still creates the "U" shape in the tubing.

    Pressure Fermentation Device - Homemade

Hello BrewCrew!! I had a brainfart idea this morning, that I thought I would share with y'all. This will work really well with bucket brewing, or Fermonsters, etc. This will also serve as an Airlock Bubbler and Blow-off Tube. Materials needed: A) 2x4's, woodscrews or nails, hammer or...

    This is getting old!

COVID can definitely have adverse effects on your sense of taste and smell. My BIL lost his T&S when he got COVID. When T&S finally started coming back everything smelled and tasted like garbage to him. The only thing he could "eat" that was tolerable was those chocolate flavored "meal" shakes...

Wort size in a 5 gallon Corny Keg...

Thanks for the reply. What size batch do folks usually brew/ferment in a Corny Keg? What size would you recommend to hold the Krausen? Good Brewing and God bless! Kugel

Wort size in a 5 gallon Corny Keg...

I've brewed before, many years ago, in plastic buckets - might have been 6.5 gallon buckets for 5 gallons batches. Just got some refurbished Corny Kegs and want to brew a 5 gallon batch, but don't know if I can safely ferment (primary) a 5 gallon wort in a 5 gallon Corny Keg. Please advise...

Question about adding Apple Juice to Ale wort...

I don't use "bittering" hops. Call me an odd duck, but I don't like bitter beer, especially IPAs. I've only used Cascade hops as a flavoring hop. It might have added a little bitterness, but it was "just right". It's an experiment. Sometimes good results and sometimes not so good... but always...

Starting Over... Been A Long Time...

👍 Thanks for your reply. I think I'll try one batch as an experiment. I don't think it will make me sick. Might not taste great but, we'll probably drink it anyway. I'll report the results on the Beginners Brewing forum. Good Brewing and God bless! Kugel

Question about adding Apple Juice to Ale wort...

Thank you, Sir! Secondary... I guess that comes from my first brew kit of 30+ years ago. There were two 5-gallon buckets Primary and Secondary, and the recipe called for siphoning over from Primary to Secondary after a certain number of days - when the fermentation slowed way down. The idea...

Question about adding Apple Juice to Ale wort...

Question about adding Apple Juice to Ale wort...

The label on the juice container says the ingredients are "water, apple juice concentrate, ascorbic acid (vitamin C)". I'm going to brew an amber ale with Liquid Malt Extract (LME), Safale US-05 yeast and cascade hops. I want to add the apple juice for a little bit of flavor and sweetness. I...

Starting Over... Been A Long Time...

Hello Good Homebrew Folks, I live down near Tallahassee, FL. Many years ago - I think maybe about 30 years ago - I got into Homebrew and brewed a few good batches of Pale and Amber Ale. I enjoyed it, but life has a way of changing your priorities - children, job change, moving, etc. Anyway...
