Survey done. I'm brewing tomorrow then hitting Powell Butte on the bike. Saturday I'm kayaking a section of the Willamette River. Fun is fun!

    Kayak

Finally, some kayak talk! I was tempted to start my own forum. I paddle a Wilderness Systems Tsunami 125 here in Oregon and love it on lakes and rivers. When I'm back home for work in Texas, I've always kept an old Pelican 116 SOT for fishing and such. I finally sold it recently but got plenty...

BIAB 2.5 Gallon Batches - Brew Pot Size

7.5 gal SS pot (turkey fryer kit from Academy / $30) w/ lid and thermometer = perfect for my 3 gallon stove top batches. Once mash temp is reached, I drop my pot down into a 10 gallon cooler which holds my temp within a degree or two over an hour. I use second colander / pot combo for...

    Laundry/Brewing Closet - Drawbacks??

I do my 3 gallon batches on the stove in the kitchen during winter months and rainy days. I actually prefer it because of access to water, sink, computer, etc. I chill using an IC downstairs in the basement after my initial ice bath in the sink. The rest of the operation (pitching, clean up)...

To drink while brewing or not to drink.. That is the question

When I first started brewing I had no idea brew day would take every bit of 4-6 hours. I decided early on that it's best for me to wait until things are winding down before I have a beer, if at all.

Pre Built STC-1000 from a vendor?

Actually it is the note at the bottom of the risendeadbrewing product page regarding no dual control that has me confused. Maybe it's left over from the previous model that was single stage? Edit: Just saw your "update his website" quote. I believe we're on the same page now. Thanks!

Pre Built STC-1000 from a vendor?

Finally! I was beginning to think it was all a dream. I knew I saw this somewhere but have been searching for the link forever. Glad I found this thread, I couldn't find the controller by searching on the site directly. $47 (assembled) shipped seems like a great deal to me. I'm a little...

What's your biggest non brewing hobby?

Man I wish but it's all flat water for me at the moment. I picked up a white water boat (for free) on craigslist but it's just a shell and it's pretty hammered so for now I'm stuck with the calm waters. Not to hijack this thread but you might check out the Kayak Portland meetup group if you...

What's your biggest non brewing hobby?

I paddle my kayak every chance I get. A few times a week in the warmer months and whenever I can during cool weather. I love camping, hiking and biking as well but kayaking is definitely my favorite. Looking forward to a new boat this year and a drysuit for the winter.

    hello from sw portland

I just signed up with The Beervana Experience group on meetup.com so I'll keep my eye out for any interesting gatherings coming up. I didn't realize there was a Portland Homebrew group on meetup as well. Anyone here in that group?
