    First Batch :-/

That's really high. Is this an extract brew? If so, it seems likely that your wort and top off water probably wasn't mixed very well when you took the first gravity reading as Colonel Forbin suggested. What was the estimated OG?

    Investing in a wort chiller

Agreed! I just bought one for $40 on amazon. After adding the cost of materials from Lowes I realized it would cost me about $40 to make my own anyway.

    Junk in bottom of bottles

Don't worry about the sediment. It might give you a little gas but that's about it.:D

    Beer and health

My wife is a dietician and she has told me that drinking beer offers many of the same benefits as drinking wine. Beer also offers nutrients that are not present in wine. So both, in moderation can be beneficial to your health.

    Few questions,

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.:drunk:

    Bottling

Alot of people on here would recommend leaving it in the primamry for another week or more to let it clear up. As far as bottling, your plan sounds right on to me. Just make sure everything is clean and sanitized.

    Aluminum pots

I used an aluminum pot for a long time. Never had any flavor issues from it. Some people recommend boiling water in it before it's first use.

    Bottled first brew tonight...

Off topic, but I just bought a mini-fridge from someone in Schnecksville. Really nice natural scenery up there. On topic, what Deuce said.

    Couple pf carb questions

Sure it is. Or as stated, it could be a late onset that did not manifest itself until you got around to drinking those last two bottles.

    Couple pf carb questions

As far as the 3/4 full bottle, it may have had more sediment since it was the last bottle from the bottom of the bucket. I've encountered that a number of times where the last bottle carbs up in like 3 days and the rest are still flat. As for the gushers, I don't know, but having them in the...

    Bottles not pressuring up

They won't carb in the fridge. Store them inside at room temp while they carb up and then stick 'em in the fridge.

First Batch in the Bottle and tasting pretty good...

Way to go man!! And yeah, brewing is alot easier than most people realize. I think there's always new things to learn, but once you get a few brews in and get your process down it's pretty easy and fun! Bottoms up!:tank:

    What are you drinking now?

    Troeg's Perpetual IPA...:D:D

    priming sugar?

I've never used anything other than table sugar. It's cheap and convenient and the wife buys tons of it at a time when she has coupons or it's on sale. Never had any problems with carbonation.:mug:

    Refrigerate grains, hops ?

No need to thaw. I leave them in the freezer right up until it's their turn to go in the pot.
  16. G

    Refrigerate grains, hops ?

Probably not. Just throw 'em in the freezer until you're ready to brew. You should be good to go.:mug:

    Refrigerate grains, hops ?

I keep my hops(pelletized) in the freezer and yeast in the fridge. I don't think the grains or extract need to be in the fridge.

    Wort Chiller

    Probably not.

    First brew, a few mis-steps...

According to the American Dietetic Association, this statement is absolutely true. No matter how bad your beer may be, it won't kill you...well nothing growing in it will kill you. The alcohol might.:tank:
