Fine, then I could join the coincidental chorus. I'm not worried about my card. I watch my account like a hawk and my bank will take care of me.

...and yet somehow, I'm still unscathed by the massive credit card fraud ring preying on Midwest's supposed negligence. Why don't they like me? Is my card not good enough?

    What disease is this?

Compost any sawdust (or other organic matter) that you add, or else the microbes will consume massive amounts of nitrogen while breaking it down and your plants will suffer for it. Composting takes a while, so it may be better if you can get some that is already composted. I recommended...

Test it first and see what your pH is. For this season, I might just use some soluble acid-forming fertilizer as you water. For next season, I'd probably dig the rhizomes and work the amendments in (sulfur or ammonium sulfate) during the off-season to give them time to do their thing. Test as...

    Can u pitch yeast twice?

Nope. With that much unfermented sugar and that high ABV, you'll never be able to bottle condition (carbonate) it. Still mead is just fine though. It might even be great. Enjoy your creation (in a year or so)!

I've had 11 successful orders with MW in the past 6 months. Yes, the 50-lb grain bags usually arrive in thoroughly thrashed boxes (well, mostly in...). Still, I've not lost a single grain in shipping. Shipping has always been reasonably prompt, with all orders arriving the next week (I'm in CO...

    Can u pitch yeast twice?

Then you should end up with a sweet mead. Even EC-1118 won't survive that much EtOH. It could have been slightly drier, if you had reserved some honey for later addition, but all at once, I expect that the bugs will drop out before it even reaches 18% ABV, leaving you with >2 lbs of unfermented...

    What disease is this?

If your soil is alkaline, then you should expect nutrient deficiencies until you amend the soil. Iron, in particular can become limiting in alkaline soils and may account for the yellowing of your new growth. As you can tell from the chart I posted above, or the one in B-Hoppy's link, slightly...

Your favorite band or album that nobody ever heard of

For those with a taste for alt country/Americana/good hard-drinkin' music (much of it obscure, so I'm still slightly on-topic), may I recommend Boot Liquor Radio (streaming): http://somafm.com/bootliquor/ In just the past hour, they've played - Stacey Earle, Beautiful Loser Society, Victor...

stout blew off the air lock...Help

Indeed, the ideal range for S-04 is 59-68F (Per the Fermentis .pdf on S-04). If you don't have a fancy fermentation chamber, you can do what I do and put your fermenters in a water bath and add ice packs/frozen water bottles 2-3 times per day to keep the temps in the mid-60's. It really does...

stout blew off the air lock...Help

Don't do this, unless you're brewing a style that requires high temps with the appropriate yeast. Otherwise, you'll get off-flavors for sure.

    A screwdriver fell in just-cooled wort...corrective action?

I wouldn't have reheated it. If I had, I would have tossed in some extra flavor/aroma hops. In any case it would still be (and is) beer. Enjoy!

stout blew off the air lock...Help

...and next time, use a blow-off tube instead of an airlock for your primary.

I'm very curious about what the grieved parties here would like to see from Midwest. What, specifically, could they do that would possibly convince you that they are not responsible for your credit card problems?
  15. S

    What disease is this?

Your new leaves are terribly yellow. Are you sure that you don't have a nutrient deficiency? This can be caused by an actual lack of nutrients or by soil pH outside the ideal range.

Me too. They are worthless parasites. I'd just hate to see a good company lose business over something that may very well not be their fault.

Billygoat, anyone? Not my favorite song, but the only one I could find on YouTube This seems to be a whole show, but no video. Those were the days. Hmm...my video post-fu seems to be lacking.

So, I'm just the lucky exception? Is it only a matter of time? Are they satisfied with what they are stealing from you, so they haven't bothered with me? Our brains are designed (evolved, if you prefer) to see patterns, even when none exist. Randomness often does not appear so, particularly...

Really? I just made another couple of CC orders from MW the other day, my 10th and 11th CC order there since February. I check my account regularly and have never had a fraudulent charge. I still don't believe you've "confirmed" anything, except that your card info was compromised somehow.
