Thank you, here is a short clip of the wood kiln in action. Not the best video in the world, but you get the idea at least. I'm the tall one, not the short one. http://youtu.be/0GbJvOK_wKk

    Homemade Ceramic Bottles

Update- I know it has been a little while, I have just gotten a large batch of bottles out of a recent wood firing that I am pretty excited about. I will update more, with many more pictures. Here is a quick shot I took after the first test corking to see the fit I think I need to set the...

    Homemade Ceramic Bottles

@Dynachrome- The insides are definitely glazed. I think the one that seeped ended up having a spot missed on the inside.

    Homemade Ceramic Bottles

@BoxMan- I'm glad you found the thread. I have definitely been thinking about using corks and cages recently, I think that they could look really good with some of the bottle's I have been making. I haven't had a chance to bottle in any more recently. I am doing a wood firing this saturday...

I agree, I think I'd like the clean edges better if they were really clean. I might redisign and try without a border for rough edges and perhaps one with a thicker border to act as as a buffer, and maybe try and use a paper cutter. Thanks for the feedback!

    Show Us Your Label

I posted earlier with the initial design a couple days ago, finally got around to printing it out. Borrowed the brown paper bag idea and I'm very happy with the results of my first labeled beer. Design Tried ripping and cutting to see what I liked better.

    Homemade Ceramic Bottles

quick update- Just heard from my girlfriends cousin that the bottle I gave him for Christmas was in fact carbonated when he opened it. That makes 2/3, still haven't heard from my her brother if he's opened his or not. As for more bottles, I have probably around 20 more ready for a planned...

    Beginner DIY Projects

This ladder ball set isn't entirely related to brewing, however it is a very easy do-it-yourself, and definitely can be played while brewing, also it makes you work with pvc, so I suppose it would help for making a manifold for a mash tun. All you need is a hack saw, drill, pvc pipe, pipe glue...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Just brewed this for my first all grain last night. Everything ended up going quite a bit more smoothly than I expected. Ended up mashing closer to 153 than 150, however this being my first time I wasn't going to stress it and decided to leave it there. Hit the OG of 1.04 right on and pitched...

    Got My Mash Tun Done

Just excited to finally get my mash tun finished and thought I would share. I used a 62qt coleman xtreme cooler, I was going to use the 52qt but it was $5 more expensive, go figure. I used info from these forums as my guidelines. Here are some pictures. All the pieces lined out...

    Homemade Ceramic Bottles

This is my next project, I am working on making the molds for two pieces this weekend. However I will continue to throw them as well. In seven weeks or so I will be doing a wood fire with all my new work. My plan is to make multiple matching bottles with a nice case to go with them, of course...

    Homemade Ceramic Bottles

Sorry to hear of your ravaged castle, you definitely have to give thicker pieces a good time to fully dry in order to fire them. And I agree of using some kind of safety shield if I did rig up a way to pressure test them.
