    Rebel Brewer

Just ordered some hops from them. Prices were good and shipping was quick. Only problem was one of the vacuum packs wasn't vacuumed closed. Wasn't a big deal since I repackaged them into smaller amounts anyway for the freezer.

    Sploded Beer

Were they room temperature? I've had a couple bottles where I opened them warm and they foamed the entire contents out. Once I put them in the fridge a few days to absorb the co2 from the head space they were fine ... I've never stirred my bottling bucket after racking on top of the priming...

Curiosity is getting the best of me...

I've got a 5.3 cubic foot freezer with a 12" collar holding four kegs. I had to put my four taps in the left half of the collar because the shanks would have hit the front keg sitting on the compressor hump on the right side. I wish it would have been swapped around since my couch sits to the...

USPS, why don't you understand RETURN TO SENDER?

I used to collect mail sent to my house for previous people who lived here for a week and then bundle it all up with a note. The mail carrier took it and I never saw it again. But I still get crap all the time for people no longer here and now I just throw it away. I figure if they didn't...

Bootleg liquor kills 143 people in eastern India

Bootleggers changed the makeup of it to try to get around the Prohibition laws. Turned out they created poison.

    Bowie Bottler

I followed the instructions in the original thread and e-mailed him a week or so ago but haven't heard anything back ... I hope they're still being made!

3 tap, 5 cu. ft keezer

That's what I did eventually with mine. It makes it easier for me to huff kegs in and out with a questionable back. I used the existing strong hinges to attach the 12" collar to my freezer and bought some self-closing cupboard hinges to attach the freezer lid to the top of the collar. It's...

    dry hopping confusion

I've made a hand-full of dry-hopped pale ales and IPAs and I ferment for 2 to 2.5 weeks, check to see if my hydrometer readings are consistent, and then dry-hop in primary for a week to 10 days before bottling/kegging. Haven't had any problems yet.

brew in a bag, small batches

I used to do this too and it worked great. I have also used a second pot to "dunk sparge" the bag of grains after the mash and added it to the boil kettle before starting the boil. I usually ended up with about 3 gallons of high-gravity wort and topped it up to 5 in the fermenter. I now do...

Tomorrow while I brew a Belgian wit in the garage I'll be smoking a Oliva V lancero. Love 'em!

    Mini brew Milk Stoudt

I had a couple bottles of Left Hand Milk Stout my girlfriend's sister brought to Thanksgiving. Awesome beer. Definitely going to make that recipe.

Austin Homebrew This Sounds Like YOUR Accounting Mistake Not Mine!

Absolutely not. Nearly double the amount of what he should have received? No way.

    BB kits vs AHS

I've done kits from AHS, Midwest Supplies and Northern Brewer and was very happy with all of them.

I use hopville.com too. Makes it easy to access anywhere and tweak the recipe as needed

    Turkey Frier for budget brewing?

I use the $40 bass pro turkey fryer kit too. I actually use two 30-qt pots and do brew-in-a-bag (BIAB) all-grain brewing. I mash in one (wrapped in an old sleeping bag) and use the other to dunk-sparge before combining everything in one pot and boiling as usual. For a very minimal investment...

    Cigar fans?

I've been smoking cigars for about 10 years. I started with a small humidor and then wanting more space moved to a large cooler. They work great at holding humidity and offer a lot of space for the money. Now I use a wine refrigerator with drawers for singles and space for boxes. I love having...
