    Best Canned Beers

I've been going through a lot of the Bitter American too. Love the flavor and the fact I can drink more than a couple and still be OK. As far as other canned beers I really like Dale's Pale Ale and the Surly offerings. My brother-in-law brought over a couple Young's Double Chocolate Stout in...

    Mashing

I use an old, king-size comforter. I heat my water to the strike temperature, add my bag/grains, stir it all really, really, well, check the temperature and then wrap it all up in the comforter. I usually get two layers of the blanket around the pot and then mound the rest on top. I used to...

    Amarillo ipa dry hoping

My all Amarillo IPA was dry hopped for 7 days with an ounce of Amarillo and tasted great. I always dry hop my IPAs. Next time I'm going to use some simcoe with the Amarillo for the dry hop because the Amarillo tastes a little too fruity/sweet to me on it's own.

Thanks for the article. Interesting stuff! :mug:

Amarillo Pale Ale (looking for feedback)

This sounds good to me. I made an all-amarillo IPA (that I really did enjoy) and I think the addition of some simcoe would help with the somewhat fruity/sweet flavor of the amarillo.

Getting Married, Good excuse to brew beer, but (where) can I serve it? (MO)

I'm in Minnesota and getting married in September and have come across the same thing. In our research it all depended on the venue and whether or not you had to use their liquor distributor (or in-house bar, or whatever) or could bring in your own. Some said yes, some said no. I think your...

    Increasing body in the fermentor

You'll want to boil it in a little water to dissolve and gently mix into the fermenter. I'd start with a few ounces and see the effect it has. The one time I used it in the keg the change was almost immediate. I think I ended up using 4 ounces in about 1 cup of water total.

    BIAB results

My girlfriend bought a yard of the voile material at JoAnn Fabrics (in Woodbury, actually) and used nylon thread to sew a bag for me. The material was $5 and it has worked great.

    Increasing body in the fermentor

You could add some malto dextrine to improve the body. I had a kegged stout I added some to and it improved the body instantly. Here are a couple threads that discuss what it is and how it works: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/malto-dextrin-86123/...

    Sweet Stout Deception Cream Stout

Having a party this weekend and have a keg of this that's been sitting for a few weeks ready to go, along with an American wheat and an Amarillo IPA It's been hard not to drink it and save it for the guests! I'll need to get another in the fermenter soon because I don't think there'll be much...

    European beers/lagers.

Where is anyone bashing BMC in the thread??? You come out with both barrels blazing at a non-existent complaint about BMC, and then rail about how defensive people get when posting about specific beers?? The OP is referencing threads where people are complaining about beers that taste...

    European beers/lagers.

Such unnecessary anger. Disappointing but not surprising.

i'll support my LHBS but, what is your goto online?

I'm local to Northern Brewer and Midwest Supplies so often buy ingredients in-store when I can use the grain room and measure out exactly what I want. But if I'm ordering online I really like www.austinhomebrew.com and www.brewmasterswarehouse.com. I have a bunch of recipes saved in Brew...

I may have to change banks.

I don't feel bad for the banks at all. They've profited off of me for enough years with fee after fee. I have lost zero sleep since closing my accounts two years ago and moving to a credit union.

Other. I keg everything, but bottle a few from the keg once it's ready to serve for portability and storage.

    Are There Standard Recipes?

I agree with Brewing Classic Styles. Also, when viewing the recipe database here, one thing I do is sort the listings by replies (click the column header) so the most-commented recipes in the particular style I've chosen come up first. That way the recipes where someone has added it and...
