Roast my Belgian pale ale recipe

I'll take a look at other recipes for sure and by getting in the way of the yeast what do you mean? Does it throw off the flavor?

Roast my Belgian pale ale recipe

Not actually looking to getting roasted but I do want an honest opinion. So i made up this train wreck in preparation for a week long vacation in mid june and I honestly don't really know what I'm doing. I'm going mainly by descriptions of the style and thats it so..... Have at it 6.6# Pale...

    What the helles is this?

I'm actually yet to ever make a lager but I remember seeing Gavin's helles and am very tempted to make it

    What the helles is this?

Dam I've been saying it wrong all this time! LME is a little bit cheaper than DME so it keeps the cost down a bit and don't worry by the next couple of batches I'll be moving up to all grain but if not, at least partial mash

    What the helles is this?

Sorry for the misleading title this doesn't have to do anything with a helles, I hope I didnt hurt anyone's feelings Anyways... I designed my first extract recipe out of stuff I thought sounded good and came up with this for a 5 gallon batch 6.6# Wheat Liquid Extract 1# Wheat Dry Extract 12...

What are some of the mistakes you made...where your beer still turned out great!

I'm gonna revive this old thread and lay out my mistake on my second beer. I just did my third today I pitched my yeast and sealed my fermenter and right after I noticed I had two spray bottles, one was sanitizer and one was nature's miracle urine destroyer. At some point or another the...

    Strong rubbing alcohol smell

So after cold aging just a week the flavor has improved drastically. I'll keep an eye on temps better next time so I'm not cutting it so close

    Strong rubbing alcohol smell

Thanks! I'll give this a try, I heat my chest freezer with two light bulbs so I'll have to invest in reptile heating pad

    Strong rubbing alcohol smell

I did think of that, although I haven't had any issues with this before. My brother had his oatmeal stout in there at the same time and it came out fine. Better luck next time I guess, I'll use a different way to insulate the probe next time and let this puppy sit for a couple weeks

    Strong rubbing alcohol smell

I'll try to answer most of this It was set to 68 and would climb to 69 and then would be cooled The pack was only a couple days old I wrap my fermenters in a towel so it should only be reading the temp of the fermenter It fermented very quick. Went from 1.055 to 1.013 in 5 days. I pitched...

    Strong rubbing alcohol smell

I'm using a chest freezer with an inkbird temp controller and the probe is directly against the side of my plastic carboy so it should be pretty accurate. I'm positive it didn't get above 70 though

    Strong rubbing alcohol smell

I deemed my second beer finished today and after tasting the sample it had a strong rubbing alcohol or hot smell to it. Not sure why. I've read it could be because of too hot of a fermentation or I've also read corn sugar can cause this. I used a smack pack of 1272 and the recipe required a...

    Rivergrill Cattleman help

Well, my grill got crushed by a tree so this had a free sign on it on the side of route 1 Besides that I've found it grills pretty decent but smoking is another story. I'm currently trying to get to get hang of it with nothing inside, besides a water pan, but I can't get the temp to come up...

    Reliable Smoking Thermometers?

    Show Us Your Tanks

I've had this set up since August 2017 and used to be a lot more into it but lost interest slightly. All I do is fill it with water when it gets low and haven't done a water change in months! All parameters are perfect surprisingly, probably because of my plants. Highly recommend the SunSun filters
