    Info about Wyeast 4632 Dry Mead Yeast

    I wonder if the Wyeast cant tolerate above 13% Mine finished out in the 18-19 range and very dry after adding the Lalvin 1118. I was trying to recreate some Rocky Mountain Mead I sampled. There were plenty of cherry trees in the back yard.... My Lab loved to eat the low hanging fruit and...

    Info about Wyeast 4632 Dry Mead Yeast

    I have used this yeast before and had to repitch with lalvin on a dry cherry mead. I would recommend that, or add another pound of honey- or better yet do both. I wonder if Rien Poortvliet intended his drawings as beer labels.........I probably shouldn't complain as I will use Maxfield...

    Low Ph on RO water

    To a chemist like myself a pH of 5 is a high pH. A low pH would be 12......please apply appropriately what pH really is. Boy I've had too much Yerba Mate and Guarana this morning. Off my high horse now......

    DME Substitute

    I have a Belgian Lambic partial mash recepie that calls for 5 pounds of Wheat DME. Can someone suggest an all grain substitution for the DME? The only other grains are 8oz carapils and 8 oz German Crystal. This is supposed to be a 5 gal batch. 6# of malt just seems a bit low. Randy

    Whoohoo!!! We have propagation!!

    Oh boy, I do have some stir plates and Flasks, and a bunch of those plastic vials that White Labs uses, I think I'm gonna start a propagation this weekend. Would any/all Rogue ales be viable options for this experiment? Would 12oz or bombers be better for this. If I put the beer in my...

    using nitrogen??

    You are right it does come zipping out of the line, if you put a venturi type valve inline, you could regulate the flow that way. I always thought its was somewhat norm to have that much flow.:drunk:

    using nitrogen??

    You can use the same regulator if the thread fitting is the same type, but it looks like you have multiple lines and would want a separate tank and regulator. I don't think beer stores sell 100% N2. I get mine refilled thru work/ Northeast Gas or other distributor. I prime with DME close the...

    using nitrogen??

    Here's how I justified using 100% N2 for kegging my stouts, (and stouts only) Caveats: Most of us bottle/keg at ~1ATM (atmospheric pressure at sea level) Many of us still have viable yeasts that naturally carbonate with CO2 I prime my Kegs like I prime my bottles (with...
