    6.5 hours but that is with a 2.5 hr mash in. I need to buy some iodine so i can do a starch test so i can cut that time.

    There are many good reasons to join, but no one here is making you join one. If you are thinking about it, then go to your LHBC meeting. Bring some of your beer, by the end of the night you will know...if you want to come back or not.

    This yeast at the bottom of your bottle is natural. Like Gristulin said. Just don't shake your cider and pour slowly; leave the end trails in the bottle. This is the cheapest solution.

    You will be fine the malt extract also has flavor. It will in no way taste like dishwater, unless you have left your beer in primary way too long and the fatty acids break down. Unlikely. Anyways steeping grains will give you more color and increase complexity of your beer. Happy brewing...
